Dave: get the gun. You wont be able to use a hand operated gun again. As the king said, put the hose on fitting and squeeze trigger. I cant stand using a manual gun, anymore.
I have only used Lincolns, but i should broaden my collection and try the milwaukee.
I also have a Lincoln air powered grease pump on a 16 gallon keg.The thing is a beast.Greases everything fast. Have about a 30' hose on it so i dont have to drag barrel around the truck. Works great if im greasing in yard.
But as everyone has said, cant beat the battery gun for quick and portable.

My lincoln air gun holds the individual cartridges....just like the manual and battery powered guns do.
-
I don't have to worry about it anymore. I just pull it into the shop at the yard and tell one of the monkeys to grease it. No getting all dirty anymore.
-
Believe it or not, I get dirtier when I WASH my truck than I do when I grease it....
-
I get dirty/greasy walking past my truck. I think it jumps on me. You have to be very weary of the 5th wheel grease its very sneaky. It gets you when least expect it and had a very far jump for such a heavy grease.

Maybe just a coincidence, but since I began using my electric Lincoln, I have had a lot of grease zerks go bad; leaking back after you pull the hose off, and on the u-joints, the opposite zerk will begin letting grease out before I am through filling the bearing cups.
A couple of people have suggested that a short pause between trigger pulls, slowing the volume of grease, will eliminate this. I hadn't tried that remedy yet, having put the electric gun up, and grabbing the old hand pumper, but it sounds logical enough to "give it a shot", (pun intended), during next PM. -
Almost have to say you are talking about me!!
I purchased a fifth wheel "table" from a fellow who is parting out a truck; it was recently kitted, and mine had so much slack, I could take off, shift three gears, then stop, and trailer would be in same spot. Did the swap Monday, washed my work clothes that night, (while wife was at work), she washed a load Tuesday am, was looking for a new washer by noon. It won't be pretty if/when she figures out where that black grease come from!!!!!
I had added some degreaser in the water, maybe should have also added a little diesel; that usually cuts the "Black Plague"

I rent my clothes and they wash them every week (uniforms) My wife says its worth every penny.
droy Thanks this. -
I switched over to the Milwaukee myself and I agree with Licensed to Kill. I like it a lot better than the lincoln. I like the way the Milwaukee has feet on it so you are able to sit it down and use it. It makes it a lot easier.

I've got a Lincoln now with junk batteries. I've got a Blue Point with a broken handle (it's just a Lincoln with a higher price and just as junky) so I may try that Milwaukee.
I've also got several air grease guns and lets just say an air grease gun is as convenient as a corded drill. Who wants to drag that #### hose around, especially when it get's grease all over it. They're all laying in the pile of useless junk.
As far as hand grease guns go, I'm to the point if I'm in the middle of greasing a truck and the battery dies and I find out some ahole left the spare off the charger. I'll look at the manual gun........then find something else to do while the battery is charging.
king Q Thanks this.
