I agree that the problem arises because of the increased load of streaming video, but I would place the blame on wireless carriers instead of the user.

I already pay more for my slower wireless connection than I do for my faster wired connection at home. One could also argue that wireless infrastructure costs the carrier less to implement since they don't have to wire "the last mile". Add to that the fact that once the infrastructure is in place, it costs literally fractions of a cent per gigabyte delivered and it adds up to customers being bent over yet again.

I run away from any carrier that charges overages. I don't mind so much being throttled. The fact is the wireless carrier have to protect their network so that it's a positive experience for everyone. A couple of PC's or Roku boxes streaming Netflix on the dame tower will degrade everyone else's service when they try to use that tower.

The only reason they have to "protect" their network is because they built an inadequate one in the first place.

I have a Thunderbolt from Verizon, I do double duty with it as a 4g mifi so that I can talk and use my ipad/laptop/whatever else at the same time. It works 5 devices plus voice at same time.

    Great for anyone traveling.

FYI, keep it plugged into charger while at all possible....

The new MR2 radio seems to fix the 4g and gps issues of the thunderbolt. The OTA should be coming to non rooted users soon.

Great idea...Verizon said I was a unique subject and they where going to open a case to work on the 4g to 3g handshake, but might just save me time and money to set it to always 4g until it is more widespread...anyone wanna by a almost new mifi2200 3g card?
