I agree that the problem arises because of the increased load of streaming video, but I would place the blame on wireless carriers instead of the user.
I already pay more for my slower wireless connection than I do for my faster wired connection at home. One could also argue that wireless infrastructure costs the carrier less to implement since they don't have to wire "the last mile". Add to that the fact that once the infrastructure is in place, it costs literally fractions of a cent per gigabyte delivered and it adds up to customers being bent over yet again.

The only reason they have to "protect" their network is because they built an inadequate one in the first place.

I have a Thunderbolt from Verizon, I do double duty with it as a 4g mifi so that I can talk and use my ipad/laptop/whatever else at the same time. It works 5 devices plus voice at same time.
Great for anyone traveling.
FYI, keep it plugged into charger while at all possible.... -
You bought the best one. the 4g to 3g hand off sucks and hangs does same thing on all 4g devices. if I know I'm not going to be In a 4g area I go into settings and switch device to 3g only .

The new MR2 radio seems to fix the 4g and gps issues of the thunderbolt. The OTA should be coming to non rooted users soon.
