http://tribstar.com/news/x181465524...eastbound-traffic-after-lengthy-crash-cleanup
Accident happened where I-70 is reduced to 2 lanes (1 each way). The 7 mile or so construction zone is a pain in general (easpecially at night) and it's easy to see how such a thing could happen.

you don't suppose a contributing factor is tailgating, do you?
Freebird135, simplyred1962, Giggles the Original and 5 others Thank this. -
Pretty easy to tell the cause...................................
weather related !!!!!!papa1953 Thanks this. -
truckers going too fast? too close together? speeding in a construction zone?
ya think? -
Nah, never happens
-
What? Trained (CDL mill) professionals (a couple o' days of orientation and into the truck) speeding and tailgaiting?
Nah...Marksteven Thanks this. -
I have noticed more and more truck drivers within the past couple of years that are getting more and more dangerous. The professional driver has become a rare breed.
simplyred1962 and trucker_101 Thank this. -
I agree lot of drivers have no respect, they complain about the four wheelers and there just as bad
-
Its a race track approaching the choke point in there. EVERYONE is trying to outdo the next guy in getting to the front of the line. If you slow down to the construction zone speed limit at the point they have the "55 MPH" sign, there will be 10 semis trying to get in front of you in the hammer lane.
These guys are going way too fast when then enter the single lane - and then it goes into a right turn in the forest there that obscures your sight of what's ahead. So there is little to wonder about in terms of "why" or "how" this happened.
So I guess that seven of the eight of those truck drivers found out about what's "at the front" of the line in a bad way... -
simply because the new breed of driver IS a 4 wheeler in a big truck
diesel_weasel Thanks this.
