I'm pretty sure the guy who did the study that they used as validation said the FMSCA misused the data.

What's so shocking? It's a government agency! Facts mean nothing, facts collect no taxes. REGULATIONS, however leave room for non-compliance which leads to fines, which leads to more money to piss away, which leads to the need for more money to piss away, which leads to more regulations, which leads to...

    See where I'm going here?

Tazz, why does it irritate you so much when someone thinks maybe we're on the wrong track with HOS? Any time someone brings it up, you're the first to say how stupid they are for mentioning it. I don't see you in DC trying to help. All I see is your bitterness because someone else said something before you.

These pencilnecks we have now only want to change things because the current HOS went into effect under a Republican. The next knucklehead won't be happy with it because a Democrat signed off on it.

My opinion? Give us 11 hours to drive, 14 hours total on-duty/drive time in aggregate in any 24 hour period, but you must take a total of 10 hours off during that same "any" 24-hour period and nothing less than 2 hours counts... and leave it at that. Forget the 70-hour rule. Forget the complicated split sleeper. I'm not out here to sit around and I'm tired of getting penalized this week for what I did last week.
