medicineman has it right about the shaker paint--its -----well ok it sucks as far as paint goes---really hard to get bugs off--easier to get the paint off with the bugs attatched tho

Outfits like Werner spec a semi-gloss paint. Not sure if it's base/clear but it sure doesn't hold up very well.

My pete was painted at the factory with DuPont Imron. I'm not a big fan of Imron but, then again, I have never sprayed it. But it has held up very well... 17 years and it still shines (when clean at least !)...

Imron is one of the most durable paints there is. it's a ##### to paint with but it lasts forever. Ipaint my jeps with it because it never gets scratched offroad from branches n whatnot

Bugs are pure protein. Cheapest home brew bug juice is dish soap and water. It is designed to attack grease and break down the protein in the grease. Spray it on, let it sit a bit, scrub or power wash. I also use this for my windows on the road. When I pull into fuel I first spray the windows down, start to fuel and then start to scrub.

CA has outlawed all but low VOC paints... so now many shops do their prep work in CA, paint the vehicles in NV then haul them back to CA to finish the project.

That's what I do, I wash mine at home as often as I can. I use Zep Citrus cleaner for bugs, plus, you can dilute it down, works great.
