L/O Changing Terminals, hard/easy

Tried to post this earlier, but it didn't take for some reason. Okay, here goes:

Go to the terminal you want to be based from and make friends with the DMs. Find the one you want to work with and ask if you can be on his or her fleet. If he or she says yes, go to that FM or TM and request the transfer, saying you would like to be on So-and-so's fleet. Boss will call that person and ask if it's okay with him or her. During this time, let your own DM know that you would like to move to a different terminal, explain why and make sure you tell him that, while it's been nice working with him, you just feel like you would be more comfortable with So-and-so and that the desired terminal appears to fit your needs more closely than Columbus. Being cordial and polite about it is your best bet...and more likely to score you what you want.

When I came back to Swift, I chose to be out of the Troutdale terminal despite being domiciled near El Paso. That was one of my negotiations. I am out of the terminal I wanted, working with the guy I wanted to work with. It didn't hurt that he was requesting me from his end.


The more I hear about this "pods" thing, the less I like it. I hope this doesn't become a company-wide epidemic.

 

Or you can just be "kidnapped" by a fleet manager. LOL He calls up yours and says "I'm taking them".

 

again, i would really really like to run the west/ northwest. it seems the only state i run in anymore is texas. i really don't like texas. i talked to the pod about switching terminals so i don't waste my life away sitting in texas but they wanted me to hang on for a bit to try out the new pod setup. turned down two loads to texas already. getting tired of it.

 

*jumps up and down, waving my hands* pick me! pick me!!! I want the Texas runs!!!!

 

i would trade if i could. seriously.

 

If I never drive on another CA highway it would suit me just fine. So I completely understand.

 

see, now if there was a way for swift to accommodate drivers by letting them choose the regions they prefer to operate in....

 

They do. It's called Comfort Zones. But that's available only to company drivers now.
