Hawk,
Since it was a short week I opted for the northeast, Norton to General Mills, now sitting at Giant in Jessup, how's that midwest run going?

well it got changed to an two stop indy and chi-town... this gives me a better chance of being back home by friday night.... i've just been real concerned about this smoking on this truck, i want to call and ask sheldon but i dont want them to route me through there just to check this, i know its a cost thing and they would love to do in the shop but i rather get it fix on the road, hell i even got a nice little gap in between the time the two loads have to be delivered tomorrow so that could give me time to get it down... well all be safe and take it easy..

Never seen white smoke.. sure it wasn't steam? What kind of RPM? My pre-DEF KW would blow blue smoke every once in a while. Deano said they do that during a regen.

Yep ya can't beat a family run company, worked for a company back in Utah L.W Miller you just couldn't fault them really looked after there drivers like they were also part of the family

nope no steam, guys behind me have said they can smell oil, it looks like smoke coming from my brakes but its coming from the exhaust and boy is it thick!!! when i do it and i shift a gear it leaves a large cloud of smoke behind!!!
and i seen that prime s!#$ someone posted last night, for the record if thats anywhere remotely true i will be looking for else employment, my days with mega-fleets are through!!!! -
Hawk,
you know if you inform Sheldon, they are going to want and see it, can't blame, however, if we could take our trucks to a "reputable" shop then it could get fixed in Va. Eddie's and Truck Center in Weyers Cave don't seem to know much? What comment about Prime?
One more thing, I thought you were going out west last week, hence the previous question.
Be safe all.Last edited: Jun 20, 2011

naw, i tried to last week but i had a doctors appointment on monday and when i called in i got penciled in on a Albany... but yeah i wish we had a "better shop" to go to also, i called and told andy and he said if i come to sheldon they will look at it or wait until i get back to virginia to have eddies look at it which was a real bummer!!! so we shall wait to see what happens, i guess i just put up with the embrassment for the 60 miles or so that it happens.... but i'll try to stay positive but my guess is it wont get fixed, ive read about similar problems and no one can find out what it is after spending countless dollars on it!!

You could go to Sheldon but it's no different. They'll check the global warming filter, put it on the laptop and if no faults, they'll think you're color blind and stupid and just assume it's normal regen activity and it won't get fixed. A general rule to remember is if there's a problem with a vehicle that happens intermittently, it won't occur while the mechanic is looking at it. One time I had a buzzing sound coming from under the hood. Sounded like an electric buzzer. I told that young stocky blonde guy and that ugly bug-eyed mechanic Dave about it and they looked at me like I was stupid. Of course, it didn't make that buzzing sound when I fired up the truck. A few hours later when those two were outside hitting on my girlfriend I fired up the truck just to make noise and annoy those two and it was doing that buzzing. Turns out it was a loose clamp on an air duct.
What's that about Prime? I don't see any posts about it here.
