Oh that's right I wanted to ask you, did Mid Florida Tech make you take some sort of aptitude test? Like for reading and math?

Just out of curiosity, why did you choose Swift over Con-Way?

MFT makes you take a TABE test. If you passed 6th grade you should'nt have a problem.

As for Swift over Conway, I just haven't filled out an app for them yet. I have filled so many out I'm a little burnt:biggrin_2556:. Now Swift does not seem to mind my 09 speeding ticket so I am going to go with who will give me a shot. Plus the convienience of the Ocala terminal fits my needs. I know people rag on them but If I get a decent mentor I'll be alright. I am still working on lining up with a few more pre-hires.

One thing is for sure, you made a good decision going the votech route. When you start doing you OTR training you will understand how nice it is to have some real-world driving day/night:biggrin_25520:, parking at truckstops, scales etc...., I am pretty sure your curriculum is set up the same as ours so use every bit of time in the first phase to hone your shifting and maneuvering skills. You will find the CDL test to be a bit stressful but fairly easy compared to what you have practiced, so good luck and keep me posted I would like to know how it works out for you.

Getting down to the wire. Took out the Pete today with the 450hp Cummins/10spd pulling a 53 ft reefer. Kind of backtracked what we did last week. Backroads, lunch, swap, backroads, I4 then back to the barn. I drove first today and must admit I did very well, not ####ey just confident, missed very few down shifts but hey I'm working it:biggrin_25525:

Back at the hotel now and just finished on-line app with Conway. Hope they call back they are still one of my first picks. as it looks right now the Line-up is Swift:biggrin_25519:, Stevens:biggrin_255:, CRST:biggrin_2552: and hopefully Conway:biggrin_255:, we'll see what happens, later.

I would put in for JBS carriers as well. I just got done reading this and I am impressed with what Mid Florida Tech offers.

They said my speed ticket needs to fall off in 9mos so thats a no go:biggrin_25513: already tried. Sucks, just got textd by my friend in the class ahead of me. He's in Chicago training with Windy Hill and says he's having a blast. I'm sure something will work out.

King how were the people out of the Ocala terminal? I know it didn't work for you but just wondering since you were there recently, still looking forward to going on the 5th.

Just tossing this out there, have you tried the Comcar family of companies, CCC, WSE, CT. I started out with CCC in Auburndale and they treated me fairly good, I was put right in the Budweiser account hauling out of Cartersville, Williamsburg, and Jacksonville. They're a good Florida based carrier and offer consistent hometime.

Yeah, I talked to CTL a while back, will have to call them tomorrow if the tickets not a problem I will fill out an App for all of them. As far as hometime, I'm willing to pay my dues and the wife is supportive of my new career change so not the biggest deal breaker. I know I'll probably be out 3-4wks:biggrin_25523:. Thanks for the heads up.

I'll tell you how to pass the road test if you need one: Volunteer to do a full PTI on the tractor trailer if Arkle does your road test as chances are hell be it. The turns you will be going around are regular city ones and some are tight. Day 1 will consist of paperwork, road tests and physicals. For the physical, only divulge important information. If you have a medical issue, call Swifts doctors in Phoenix and ask for a release. This will save you time. Overall, nice but see my pm.
