Average rates are up to 2.00 a mile industry wide now Snowy. So does not matter as much what you haul, as it does where you haul.
Checking out the lanes and finding the best ones takes time.
Especially on the boards like landstars. Many of the best loads will be taken days or even a week in advance. So learning how to set up your trips well in advance gets to be really important.
It gets to be the best practice with time to find a good loop, with freight that is steady from the same shippers and receivers. Then just book those loads as soon as they hit the board.
Or if they really want the high paying DOD loads. They will have to make sure that they know what they can get on the other end. Would suck to take a 3.00 per mile load, only to find themselves in a 1.50 per mile area at the other end. Even though the average would still be good. Other runs may be better.
With Jess working the boards for him he should do well though.

i just heard them onions pay bye the pound. there was an owner operator and he packed 22 more bags. maxing out his weight. he was on his way home to florida.
i know the broker was throwing a big fit to make sure i hauled onions to colorado when the truck was fixed. instead of packing a load home. i can see why now.

In lovely NJ, I hate this state!!!! Got lost again and have even been to this place before. Got stuck here when that 1st blizzard rolled thru. Driver directions I had the 1st time were a lot better. Even called the place for directions, googled it, but somebody has changed the names of the exits!!! GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

today i went to dak resins in leland nc. when i got to the gate i was told my daughter abby and my dog were not allowed on the property . i would have to drop them off on the side walk down by the road where they would have to wait till i was loaded. i came unglued on these people cause im not leaving a 9 yr old kid on the side of the road for up to 2 hrs. after a few heatedexchanges with the guard and her boss i asked for a gun so i could shoot the dog and a pair of hand cuffs so i could attach my kid to the fence. then another supervisors was called when the word gun was uddered. i was then told they could stay in a closet in the guard house. so my kid and dog spent 3.5 hrs in a closet so they would not be seen by the companys higher ups . road link took my side with this and even tried to reason with these people on my behalf but to no avail. i couldn't leave i had to get the load it was too far to come back empty. from now on any new plce i go i will call ahead and find out their policys i never want my daughter to have to go thru that again. so yall remember dak resins and refuse any load there if you have a rider or a pet that travels with you

anyone know the trick to keeping a 98 kenny idling? mine is down for repairs and this thing shuts off after 10 minutes. this thing has some digital dash thingy called celect roadrelay but all is says is please wait.

i found a cable that allows me to plug my laptop into the computer. just like the cable i have to plug into car computers that are 95 and newer. giving some serious thought into buying it. this company doesn't monitor the computer unless they want to pay for the service. (((doing my evil grin wiggling eyebrow look))). hehehe
