Took out "The Beast" KW 900/9spd/40ft dump this morning:biggrin_25520:. Started out riding shotgun then swapped out at the Loves exit 44 in Auberndale. Instructor proceeded to dispatch me through a bunch of twisting roads around some lakes, through downtown Auberndale and then through what I call the backcountry......orange groves, double wide trailers........orange groves, cattle paddock........orange groves.......:biggrin_2554: it all looks the same to me, anyway it was cool driving an "old school longnose". The newer trucks just don't have the same feel plus the tranny was smooth unlike the newer trucks that aren't broken in yet.
The seats were a little hard on the kidneys so the experience was cool but I think I would prefer the newer KW or Pete for a permanent ride.

So far total miles stand at 666 only four more drive days left:biggrin_25519:. well thats about it, time to fill out some more apps:biggrin_2553:, later!

One thing I like about Con-Way, and this may sound stupid, is the fact that they'll put your cb handle, or your name on the door of your truck. I think that's kind of cool of a company to do that, that's old school......So it might not mean jack crap at the end of the day, but maybe it's an insight to the way they value their employees. Plus from what I hear they have Serius in all their trucks, satellite radio is a huge help on those long days.

Took out the T800/10spd w/flatbed today:biggrin_25515:. I drove first and had a decent trip today. Lots of starting on hills which was cool because just a few weeks ago I would sweat it if we stopped on a hill, but no problems.

Instructor took us to breakfast then we drove over to Wildwood and took a break at 75 Chrome Shop:yes2557:. The place was cool. Chrome and lights is definetely "truckers crack." I can see why people end up spending alot on their rigs. I'm sure I'll be back in the future. Instuctor was proud of us today, he can see the improvments in all of us and said we all did great today with the exception of the standard few missed down shifts:biggrin_25525:.

When we pull in to the yard and pass the shift track it is a good feeling knowing we were just there a few weeks ago struggling to get our shifting and turns down.:biggrin_2559: Thats it for now, have to go in at 5 to get some night driving in the morning, later.

Rolled out at 5am with the 386 Pete/10spd pulling a 53ft reefer. Headed down to N. Alexander st. in Plant city to hit the awesome $5 buffet at Freds Market Restaurant. Neat place tucked away in the Farmers market. Can't beat the price plus it was really clean with friendly service:yes2557:.

Took off for Wachula and did a swap. Had a few hiccups and a not so pleasant #####:biggrin_25516: over me not following the instructors directions. Got very frustrated and I let out a few expletives, Instructor told me never to do it again (like in you will not receive diploma:biggrin_2554:, I told him no problem) Wheeeew that was close........... Other than that it was a great day.

I think I'm ready for Conway. Have a four day weekend then wrap up this thread next week because I will be outa here! Peace, later.

    Hey what was the hiccup?

That is awesome that you chose Conway. I've been doing a lot of research on the internet and they seem to be the best of the 'starter' companies. They are my first choice. Will you be starting a new thread when you go off to orientation?
