Don't most companies, not all, basically have have a policy of,......
parking in a safe and secure location ???
That leaves alot of open questions !!
Personally, I'd treat it like my own truck. And Nobodys just gonna unlock the door
and drive away in My truck !!!
Next time your're at a truckstop, just take a moment and watch things going on there.
Drivers unloading the cab, into their car, slam the locked door shut on the truck,
and that's it !!!
Sorry, I blame the driver on 90-99% of these stolen truck cases !!!!!!

I find it amusing that companies don't want to pay for secure parking for THEIR truck when a driver is off
But they DO it is called the COMPANY YARD. But 1 of the first thing a prospective driver asks is DO I GET TO TAKE THE TRUCK HOME.
-
Exactly my point. Every now and then someone comes on the forum and asks where they can park in such and such city for their hometime and the first answer usually is "Find a Walmart or a home improvement store". Walmart, Lowes or Home Depot isnt in the storage business. If you are going to take a truck home then how about a little initiative in making sure it is going to be there when you come back. If the OP had spent $100 on an air cuff lock then he might still have his job.

for a $100,000 load, i'm pretty sure a skilled thief would bust that lock right off.U4EA Thanks this.

All you have to do is unscrew the gladhand and screw another one on, but if is better then not doing anything.

See the thing is here that USexpress is using the truckstop and trailer as cheap warehousing space instead of spending corporate income on warehousing costs, saving themselves a small fortune and fattening the shareholders profit at the expense of the little guy doing all the physical work out there.
When their half-####ed business strategy goes awry they feign outrage and put all the blame on the driver and fire him acting like it is his fault when it really is their fault for not having adequate facilities to warehouse their freight when not moving in transit.Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this. -
But why should the driver spend HIS money? It is not his truck. And as far as the driver taking the truck home. That is just as much a convenience for the company as it is for the driver. Can you imagine how much harder it would be for companies to find drivers if they could only hire near their terminals? It's just more industry BS that a lot of drivers have bought into. It's the companies property. It is their responsibility to protect it.Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this.

they do have a policy and by what he said he violated it and as most shoe loads are hvp you can't leave the truck for more than 2hr's and a team both drivers can never leave the truck at the same time. when i get home i will find my book and post it.

Just a thought, but USX doesn't warehouse anything. The entity that profits from rolling warehouses is the ones that own the products.

It really bites that someone made off with your truck, is this a big worry? I can see how valuable cargo would be sought after, but to take the whole thing? I made a note of the locks Rollover listed for when I get out there with the rest of y'all. Our instructor at school already told us about good locks on the trailer, loaded or empty (don't wanna get to a stop and find out you're hauling something or someone you didn't know about), but it never crossed my mind that someone might take off with the whole truck.
I'm a woman who has prefered a manual transmition since I got my driving permit at 15, and that was funny. Most Americans can't drive a stick, so it follows that most American women can't.
