I have located an 86' 359 that is in GREAT shape body and frame wise with only a little surface rust on the driver's side of the sleeper where the light strip bolts. What would be a close estimate for the cost of this conversion, labor wise. I have also located a 99' pete 379 that has been totaled with less than 100,000 miles on a complete engine/drivetrain rebuild w/papers and warranty.
The real problem I am looking at is the wiring harness and making it work in the older truck without getting a check engine light evrytime I turn the key.
If possible could someone recommend a shop in the South East say within 400 miles of Meridian, Ms zip code 39301. I've been saving for a while and my local bank has looked over my buisness plan and assured me that I qualify for a small buisness loan.
Thanks all, if this works out it will be my first truck.

I would buy a turn key truck and forget the engine swap idea...
While it's been done before you really need to be a hand's on kind of guy running with a one-off set-up like that. Most dealers would shy away from servicing any electrical problems...
I would say if you had a ton of truck repair experience yourself it would be OK... my son has a 379 glider that he built himself (C-15 CAT) and just getting someone to change the ECM wiring from a 70 pin connector to a 40 pin was a task.
Don't get me wrong... I love 359's but you are asking for a lot of trouble and uneeded expense... -
a 359 wont have a check engine light
so you are in the clear!
