Well....I bit the Verizon bullet today.....Everything else I have is Verizon and I did talk to the girl that we do all our business with and she assured me that Unlimited does in fact mean Unlimited....I told her I would see real soon.....Cause my Slingbox came in TODAY!! just gotta get back by the house in a week or so and get it hooked up!! Really looking forward to that! I'll let everyone know when and where I have connection problems. I got the USB 720 modem with the y cable that is supposed to boost the signal just like the Sprint unit that has the y cable. Well....gotta run...gotta be in LA(Lower Alabama) in the am..........and I'm still in TN. See you guys soon.....

I bit the bullet too. Ordered my Verizon Express Card online for $9.99. Got it the next day, realized I didn't have an Express port on my Laptop. Just got back from the local Verizon store where they quickly exchanged out my card for the correct one. I had to pay $42 up front, but I will get a $50 rebate. So far, I am at twice the speed of Dial-Up here at home, it was Broadband in town. I know the speeds aint great, but as long as the service operates without interruption, it may stay.

My laptop fell from my top bunk in the trainers truck and broke my wireless card. Anybody used to have verizon that does not need the 640 / 740 card anymore?? I thought I had selected the phone inurance plan but verizon said I did not and wants me to pay a small fortune to replace the card (not an option on my student budget).
Thanks -

I finally found an USED U-720 Sprint Card with a "Buy-It-Now" price of $35.
Bought it on the spot. -
I wrote this on the gamer thread but is good here too.
That is no lie read and don't listen to anyone on who is unlimited. I had BellSouth (I think) as my home phone provider. Unlimited long distance calling up to 15,000 minute. Well we went over the minutes. My mom was sick and staying with us so, she had to call all her friends because I said it was unlimited. Daughter boyfriend lived out of state. So the minutes went quick. I didn't know it wasn't truly unlimited well we went over they sent us a letter and a bill for $50.00 and said each time would cost that.
They still call and would like for me to sign up with them and there unlimited service and I had to tell them to read their own fine print. Well they argued with me and I said ask your manager if it's not 15,000 minutes. He put me on hold came back and said sir you're right but it's unlimited up to the 15,000 minute. I said how is that UNLIMITED?So read the fine print because after I got the letter with the number if I had questions. Oh you can bet they will show you right were you can find it. I happen to have a pamphlet on them laying around I got through the mail looked at it sure enough there it was at the very bottom fine.
That is way I say don't listen to anyone on here or when you call to ask a question get someone with authority. With a cellphone you could owe hundreds or even thousands. How many people us 15,000 minute just like how many truckers stay online like a gamer will. -
The FCC has thousands of complaints against unfair business practices of cell phone companies and TV costs. Yet, most people thing they must keep paying for garbage just because it is demanded by Corporate.
Every wonder why we pay so much for all this junk?
How about everyone dumping tones of complaints on your Attorney Generals and your State Representatives. Let them all know that this corporate rip off topped of with Government Complacency is not going to be tolerated any more.
It costs practically nothing for these companies to provide unlimited communications and home base businesses proved it could be done. Unfortunately companies like US Sprint were so greedy the cut off all the paychecks about twenty years back and ended up in sever years of litigation because they trashed people lives. They lost a lot of momentum, but they are back screwing the public and enjoying all the trashing of the general public they can get away with.
Are we all that blind and stupid to continue to putting up with all of this garbage? Perhaps so, but I would like to think the average citizen has a little more intelligence than that.
If everyone threatened to cut off their service, you would see these companies jumping through hoops to get their business back on line.
