Yes I have worked for Stevens. Best equipment, best training, and best drivers. Glad you have always been treated well. I have not gone over the the Aviary and trashed talked Stevens. Steven's treats their new recruits like ####. There, I said it again. Now, unless you want me to go into detail I suggest you let it be. It's not your thread.

It is not your thread either.
You made a booboo in LA and had to take a driving test with a red shirt that you did not like. You were also assigned an older truck, and did NOT do a proper pretrip before accepting it... It had a coolant leak, with a lake under the truck... kinda obvious. So you dislike stevens due to your mistakes, so be it.Last edited: Jun 20, 2011

I had to take a driving test with a redshirt that, for 80 miles of it kept talking about his near homosexual experience in San Francisco and to make sure I didn't think he was a homosexual told me stories about his sexual exploits with the opposite gender. All the time chain smoking (I don't smoke).
On the truck, the previous driver sought me out and told me he had not shut the truck off for a month so as not to let the gasket contract thus leaking coolant. He also told me the transmission popped out of gear without warning. This is the truck that was issued to me for my first solo run. Once I got the keys I went to the truck and inspected in and sure enough there was the puddle of coolant. I drove the truck up to the shop and pointed out the problem to the mechanic.
While waiting for the truck to be fixed I was subjected to the Brokeback Mountain experience with your redshirt.
I ended up sleeping in that truck for a couple of days but after the first day so much coolant had been lost it would not start anymore. Froze my ### off. All is after having completing their training program.
My trainers were professional drivers who signed off on me.
For the record, I quit Steven's and came to SWIFT. SWIFT is a little wacky at times but from the moment I came over I have been treated with respect. I am what they refer to as an owner operator now. Excellent safety and delivery record.
I have no issues with Stevens drivers and I am on record as saying they have (for a training company) the best equipment and training program.
Really thought of filing a sexual harrassment complaint but decided to move on since SWIFT made it easy for me to switch companies.
Are you really a driver TLeaHeart or are you a recruiter? -
Just for the record - not to pick a fight or anything (ok MasterTech?) the mechanical issues described here would have been taken care of at Prime without any fuss... and the driver would not have been expected to stay in the truck and "Froze my ### off." One of our company drivers would have been put up in the company motel in Springfield, or would have had a motel room paid for him.

The truck had been "serviced" already. I was given a paper showing what the previous driver had reported when he turned in the truck. The driver clearly wrote that it was leaking coolant. The document in question was stamped Mecanically Cleared or words to that effect. This was on a Saturday morning. When I pointed out the leak I was told they would get to it tomorrow (Sunday). I was anxious to hit the road since I was no longer on salary so I decided to stay in the truck. My counselor was gone for the weekend so I was S.O.L. on getting a room but it is well documented that Steven's uses a flop house and the rooms are double occupancy. Sleeping solo in the truck seemed like a good idea till all the coolant dribbled out and I could not start the truck anylonger to run the heater. I did get to the flop house Monday night when it was apparent the truck was not going to get fixed anytime soon. Meanwhile, I had to deal with the dreaded Redshits and everything spirled down hill in a hurry.
I am stuck like Chuck waiting on a load by the way. Going on 11 hours now.

I am still on a trainers truck and will be done with my 35 days on Friday. The only complaints I have aside from a payroll issue that was resolved after speaking with my counselor is the hygiene of my trainer and I am not backing up as often as I feel that I should. Not one time have I been treated like trash.
I am happy with my decision to go with Stevens at this point. -
My trainers were great guys. I really enjoyed my time on the road with Stevens. My counselor was very attentive. I think the reason you are not getting as much backing as you want is cause your trainer has to get his lazy ### off the truck and spot you per company policy. Most of the trainers don't want to hassle with backing practice.
I had to do an abbreviated training with SWIFT when I came over. The mentor was a dangerous driver in my opinion. Having been with Stevens drivers and taught to drive the Stevens way I slept with one eye open and jumped off his truck in the middle of winter. Wrote a detailed incident report. I have seen this a-hole since and I don't think he is a trainer anymore, at least I hope not.
I really can't explain what happened to me at Stevens. I got as far as the
Grad Fleet briefing and was handed the keys to a truck. Then everything got very strange and very mean spirited. I won't go into detail unless there are continued efforts to discredit me. -
Just a driver, that enjoys my life. I just repeated what you posted in the aviary while at stevens..
And the dispatch window can get you a hotel pass, as can the shop foreman when your truck is broke down, but you made the choice to stay in the truck.
So you decided to run, and not report the red shirt...
A person that gives respect, tends to get it in return...
Calling me a recruiter is being disrespectful.
I hope swift is a good fit for you, since stevens was not. -
I am a hard working and safe driver. I am a good fit for any company, including Stevens. I fired Stevens because I had that choice. You went to their school and took their money. They own you. I know you are a good driver but please stop trying to make Stevens out to be the greatest trucking company that ever trucked. I keep repeating that Stevens has the best equipment and best training program. I have said it in almost every post. Don't understand why you keep attacking me because I expressed an opinion on how they treat their NEW drivers, not how they treat their drivers in general. If you want me to go into detail on that subject I will but I would rather move on.
