I don't know of anybody using a marine file in a truck engine. The marine engine files don't have the options that need to be programmed into the ECM to work properly in a truck. A marine engine doesn't have cruise control or jake brakes and these things need to be programmed into the ECM to function.

As far as torque is concerned the truck engine files will build huge amounts of torque when the proper engine parts are used. The Australian codes are references to a few flash files that CAT wrote for the early 2WS, and 1MM 3406E engines. These files aren't compatible with the newer ECM's in the 6NZ, 7CZ and MBN engines. Someone has modified an Australian file to work in these newer ECM's, but it can have some issues when communicating with the Powertrain Data Link for the ABS brakes, Automatic Traction Control, AutoShift and Freedomline transmissions.

I personally hate the modified Australian file and refuse to flash an ECM with it anymore. The few times I've tried it, it's been nothing but a problem afterwards. I have two customers that run it and are happy, but for those two I've had to re-flash a 7CZ 600 file in 7 or 8 others that thought the Aussie file is what they needed. I don't give people the option anymore when they ask about this file or Aussie codes.

The marine engines build more torque than a truck engine, because they build more Hp. They use different camshafts and injectors, these parts will swap into your truck engine. You can add a significant amount of both torque and HP using truck flash files, if you know which files to use. The other codes people seem to refer to as Australian codes is the FLS/FTS codes. These are used to add or subtract Hp from a given engine at CAT when it was built and dyno tested before leaving the factory. When somebody refers to changing these to Australian codes, there aren't any. There are HOT codes that guys learn about that will build significant power gains and they use them while tuning an ECM for power.

I need to know how much Hp you want to build to be able to give you an idea about turbo sizing.

    I'll send you a PM

    No

Cat didn't start writing Heavy Haul files for the MXS until after it's was released to the public in 05. So all the Heavy Haul files are a field uprate and started probably a year after the MXS was put into production. From my understanding of what happened CAT felt the standard file would work well in Heavy Haul applications. The problem was that in Heavy Haul operations most of the drivers were turning higher RPM and CAT was hearing customer complaints about very poor fuel mileage compared to the earlier 6NZ/7CZ's. CAT wrote these Heavy Haul files to try to alleviate the complaints

The IC 32 file is a standard 550Hp 1850 PT file that is listed as a 2100 RPM file, but will turn 2300 RPM if you adjust it for the Heavy Haul work.

The IC 52 is the HH 550 Hp 1850 PT file that does have a slightly different power curve. I've never played with one to see if the RPM can be adjusted to 2300 RPM or not

Another member and I were discussing the Heavy Haul files for the Acert's recently and he was telling me that these files are supposed to be Brakesaver files without the Brakesaver designation. The supposed reason behind this is that CAT has already certified the BS files as EPA compliant and doesn't have to certify another file each time they release an update they just change the flash file number and IC and it's ready

I know there is a big difference in the PDI files when you use a 52 IC file versus the 32 IC. PDI claims they are both modified identically, so there is a big difference between these two files from CAT.

There is also a 550 BS 2300 RPM file listed as a field uprate only with a IC 38 329-8552 this might be interesting to try

Could you help my CAT. 2007 C-13 with after market mufflers. Not looking for a race truck but I would like to improve fuel mileage. I get from 4.5 to 5.8. Thanks, Phil.

Just made a deal on a C13 acert powered KW T600 believe its an 06 but may by an 07 I will check. Plan is to get the better mufflers not strait pipes as I don't like tickets and like to use the jakes as much as possible to save wear on the brakes. I'm looking for advice on maximizing tq and mileage. I use progressive shifting whenever possible and am fanatical about proper maintenance. Also the purchase deal includes a drivetrain protection clause for the life of the 3 yr lease purchase. If for any reason other than driver error or mistreatment the engine transmission or rear ends fail, they will be repaired at no cost. So I can't do anything outside of warranty for at least 3 yrs. Also are there any things I should watch out for with this engine. It is close to 500000 miles at this time. Thx.
