You're talking about the flatbed company out of Des Moines, right? I never drove for them, but I do have an amusing picture I'll share here.
This TMC driver had a little difficulty while pulling onto the fuel island at White's in Raphine, VA. I thought it was hilarious because it says "Destination: Excellence" on the back of the cab. So I took these pix w/my phone.

Umm yea that I am asking about. How in the hell can a driver do something like this when all you have to do is driver straight in. Most fuel islands that I've scene have a long or a decent straight shot to pull in.

wow
and i do see there trucks all the time as i live in iowa
makes me wonder -
they are a decent place to start. flatbed training is second to none and respected throughout the industry. they have nice trucks, which are extremely slow. they have a lot of rules and attempt to micromanage every aspect of your life when you are in their trucks.
I didn't make any money in the 2 years I worked there and found company culture disturbing to say the least. ran all over the country and wasn't home very much. I did drive a nice truck and pulled some cool loads though. they looked good on a resume and I got some good flatbed experience. working for them was a mixed experience for me, I can't recommend anyone not give them a shot if you're new to flatbedding, and I can't recommend anyone make a career there either.

Seguy, that fuel island approach at White's is indeed a little tight, there's a row of parking kind of close, not shown in pic. It does take a little bit of "wait, .. wait, ... ok cut it all the way" to get lined up but geez,.. he hit the safety pole with his driver's side. No excuse for that.
Also, FYI, at that place, after fueling, you DON'T pull forward. If you do, nobody else can leave the fuel island, aint' no room to clear your truck & you may lose your hood if somebody tries anyway.
All I know about TMC other than that "Destination: Excellence" or "Excellence in motion" obviously wasn't the case that night at Whites, is that their trucks used to blow the doors off my 65 mph truck. Then one day I found myself creeping up on one of them, now I pass them all the time but I usually have to use my extra 3 mph to do it in a timely manner. My truck goes 65 on the cruise and 68 with the hammer down, just for passing so we don't end up competing in any "special olympics" passing a 66 mph truck. My best guess is that TMC trucks currently run about 64. -
Well, you are going to be surprised then. There are a LOT of small truck stops, especially Pilots, with ridiculous fuel islands that are a nightmare to get into or out of.
I've seen much worse than this kind of accident, trust me. I watched (and screamed over the CB) while a driver ran down an entire pump at an old mom&pop truck stop in TX. -
When I was there for a very short time in 07, we were limited at 65. Only way I could hit 70 was downhill. Trucks were beautiful though. Back then, Long Haul drivers were raking in huge checks running on percentage. The following spring, I talked to a driver who was losing his kiester because rates had hit the floor. -
