This is tough to hear. I grew up with Glen Campbell, and can still see and hear him in my head as he exclaimed, "Hi, I'm Glen Campbell" at the beginning of his TV show.

I watched as my mom died of Alzheimers disease. It is a gastly disease that robs you of any and all dignity you had as a person. My best wishes to Glenn, and all those that have, or are affected, by Alzheimers.

I too enjoyed Campbell very much. But frankly, he should have stopped trying to sing 10 or 15 years ago. It's tough, seeing the old time entertainers dying off. But I think it is a whole lot harder, seeing the old timers try to perform after they have "lost it."

In any case, it makes me sad to read this.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom stranger. You and I have sort of exchanged words in the past, but that doesn't matter. I agree with your post 100%.

The concert videos I posted were of Glenn when older, but at that time he still had it. Different, but good. I agree, there comes a time to quit.

I don't remember any words exchanged, but I try not to remember things like that. Not everyone agrees all the time, and not everyone disagrees all the time. I have read many good post from you through the years.

Thanks for the condolences. Mom died in 2007, after 12 years of progressively worse Alzheimers. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. The problem with it is, after a while, and many heatbreaking and confusing stages for all involved, the person with it doesn't know thet have it, but the family is left dealing with the mental anguish of watching what has happened to a once strong loved one.

To this day, there is nothing like Glen Campbell singing a Jimmy Webb-penned tune.

    Best of luck, Glen!

Getting drunk and hitting women never has sat well with me.

However, I wouldn't wish altzheimers on anyone.....

I saw him in concert a few years back. Quite honestly one of the worst performances that I had ever seen. He was intoxicated and making a fool of himself on stage, trying to hit on women in the audience. Sorry to hear of his Alzheimer's though, that is a tough diagnosis.

The really sad thing is, that this can be said of so many of our entertainers and sports persons. Not much left for kids to use as roll models today.
