can anyone say anything good about CR England.

I applied at a bunch of different trucking companies and CRE was the only one that called me back. So I guess I can somewhat give them credit for taking a chance on me (even though they do that with everyone).

My net income last year was around $42,000. Yes I do get negative checks sometimes but I am just making the best out of a difficult situation.

 

If you can make $42k at a place like CRE my hat is definitely off to you. Making the best of a bad situation is to be duly noted. The key would be to minimize those negative checks. Hopefully you'll have the opportunity in the future to get with a more quality outfit but until then best of luck going forward!!!

 

I really need some information on Landstar, I keep hearing some great success stories but some real failure ones too. I heard the first 2-3 months can be killer when you are first getting started.

 

The first 2-3 with any carrier are going to be critical months. It's the getting to know management, mechanics, dispatcher, safety, corporate b.s. period and it's always issue filled. It's what you do with the rest of your trucking time that makes the difference. Most companies are pretty much the same, the difference comes in your time management, determination, common sense and willingness to be successful. Also almost forgot the ability to listen. Do those things and you're guaranteed to be successful. Remember keep the shiny side up!!!!

Irony I know right?? However every now and then there is news of a success story. Glad the above poster is having some luck with them. Otherwise like I said in one of my earlier post "trash is trash no matter how you wash it!!!

 

"Guarantee" is what recruiters do, but aren't anxious to put in writing. It's been said that the only thing(s) that are guaranteed in life are death and taxes. However, taxes are avoidable. Death ain't.

Well, I hooked up with CR England on the 6th of June 2011 and I went to their school in Mira Loma, CA. First, I applied from Billings, Montana in November 2010 and they said it was a no-hire state. So in May 2011 they called me back they were desperate for drivers my recruiter Gina Duncan in Salt Lake City, Utah told me if I had an address in California I can go there to get my CDL and work for them. I did have a best-friend in Long Beach, CA she said perfect will use that address. I told her I live in Billings, MT she said if you want to go get your CDL I will put you on a plane an fly you to L.A.. I talked to my wife and she said go for it. So I went. My class started on June 6th 2011. My tuition cost for the 17 day course was 2,995 ($3,317.41) with interest. I received my CDL on June 22, 2011. It is an Interim License Class A and hard copy will be delivered in the mail in 3-4 weeks. On the graduation day June 23, 2011 out 65 people in the only 6 graduated and I was one of the 6. We were told that our trainers will be picking us up on Sunday. On Friday June 24, 2011 my TC (training coordinator) told me I was going to CT. OK. Then on Saturday that changed to a Regional Route (LV, Reno, SLC, Mira Loma). OK. Then on Sunday morning I get a call I will not be going on the road. Why? No trainers. Then what? I will have to send you back to the school for 17 more days without pay! I told them this is BS! So I left. I got want I came for my CDL I earn it on my own. But, they dick you bad out the 6 people who graduated no has left the hotel and myself and 2 others had to go back to school all 3 of us quit! That is BS. CR ENGLAND is exactly as the say on there trucks LEASE, TRAIN, DRIVE. Yes, they will train you but, if you don't lease you don't drive period. So now, I left and I am going back to Billings, MT I have my CDL but not OTR experience. When I get back with my hard copy hopefully I can find a job for recent CDL grads with CDL an no experience. CR ENGLAND is a terrible outfit to screw you over to lease a truck.

One thing is for sure the training is ridiculous! $61.43 = $430 per/week
Phase II is 12 CPM as a second seat to LO/OO
Solo is 25 CPM
Team is 34 CPM split (17 CPM)
Average trip 3000 miles

All trainers have Volvo's and we were trained in Freightliners. They take you up to SLC and force you to lease a 6 month demo or whatever then you tell them no and they can you! Bad company worse mistake I have ever made.

 

CRE bases their company rides off priority, as they don't have many company trucks. If you're comming off a 6 month demo you will have priority over a Phase II student. I had the E-Zpass treatment, and made it passed both phases within 3 weeks (I also had a CDL when I walked into the company).

I took out a 6 month demo on a 2010 Cascadia, and I honestly don't have any complaints. I drive 2,500 to 3,000 miles a week solo, and I take home 800 to 1200 a week. And to correct your statement, I'm a Phase II trainer and I drive a freightliner. Both my Phase 1 and 2 trainers had Cascadia's.

All of the major OTR carriers are the same. You're going to find the same shenanigans at Werner, Swift, Prime, Covenant, Stevens, etc. You aren't going to get anything out of the job that you don't put in. If you were at the hotel for so long, then why didn't you call your TC and ask for a different trainer? Something tells me that you went home at one point during the training, or you left the truck you were assigned to. This will delay the process as students are paired with trainers on priority. You will be paired after everyone else that finished school.
