Well I am very upset. I have met Injun and I am upset she never offered me any drugs!
Just kidding of course. I am glad that you are relatively alright. The reason the Sheriff won't talk to you is he is hoping you will get frustrated and forget about following through with any actions. That's why you need a lawyer. Keep fighting this Injun! Remember, there is a mountain lion behind you!simplyred1962 and Injun Thank this. -
if i gave my honest opinion on this subject i would surely be banned so i will keep my thoughts to myself
I_HATE_MINIVANS Thanks this. -
Yeah, I know. I've had to kind of "filter" my comments when discussing this topic, especially because one of the people posting on this thread (dieselbear) is a cop who seems to actually be one of the decent ones, and I don't want to get on his bad side.
-
You don't get on my bad side. Say what you want. I'm glad Injun is ok. I have had a couple discussions with her on her in the past, as well as some others. Many times we agree, sometimes we agree to disagree. That's the great thing about a discussion.otherhalftw, simplyred1962, target_driver and 4 others Thank this. -
Ok, I'm a newbie, or Noob if you will. I've been out there for a while though, but I've never had any trouble with a LEO. I find the rookie cops are a little bit paranoid when they just come out of the academy and are out there by themselves for the first couple of months. They have been taught by the book, and are scared more than we are.
Injun, I hope you're ok, and get over this. Do what you have to do to report this.
This guy was obviously out of line, and NOT doing his job properly.
In general all the LEO's I've come in contact with were helpful, and were trying their best to keep me safe. Again, my experience is somewhat limitied.Injun and simplyred1962 Thank this. -
There are drivers out there with enough hatred of other companies that would call in a false report just to inconvenience the company.Others who would do the same just to watch the "show".
Being a good cop must suck.Always wondering if this is your last stop.Enduring the tirades of unreasonable people.Never paid enough for the risk in my opinion. Its also my opinion that there are more abnormal people than normal-same with LEO.
This should be a wakeup to all drivers.Start telling yourself "if someone bangs on my door, dont move until I`ve woken up and determined whats happening, get my wits about me first".The element of surprise screws you every time.Try to peek to ID whats going on.Keep the door locked until you`re sure of the situation.
The worlds in sad shape. No longer can you identify the bad guys by their appearance alone.Drug addicts and dealers in all walks of life from homeless to the boardroom.
Until you`ve been in a situation like this you probably won`t believe it could happen. It does.We all need to remember and exercise what rights we still have, as needed,as long as we still have them.
Injun, you weren`t charged with anything, didn`t do anything wrong and who knows why this happened.I think you need to get some publicity-at least until you get some answers.Twenty years from now you may still be trying to figure out why.I`m glad you`re still here with us.simplyred1962 and Injun Thank this. -
To the very few on here that think this cop acted in a manner that was fine, this is the problem with the police in this country. The we can do as we please attitude and never have to answer for there actions. This whole story just make me sick. Just another egotistic cop who thinks he can do what he want, hes just lucky he did not beat on the wrong door. If he was realy going on a tip about a drug dealer he would have never gone it alone especially when he did not know for sure what was going on. This alone to me makes his whole story whishy washy.. Almost every day on the news i here of another cop caught selling drugs, drinking on duty, covering up for another or a number of other illegal activitys. The people hired to police the country can not even police themselves.

Injun; sorry to hear you went through this. I too would suggest you follow up with this. I think you have a good chance of a claim in a lawsuit and deserve it. I say this for a reason. I have been around a few times. Was a MP at one time. I also went through the law academy of a state for reserve police officer. Back home I have a lot of friends who are cops. State, county, and city. My BIL is a cop. I have noticed one thing. Most cops look at truckers differently than society. Here locally where I live I have friends who are cops.
I have always had a lot of respect for officers, because they put their life on the line just by putting the uniform on. However; as a truck driver I have always been approached differently than a 4 wheeler. I have told my wife repeatedly how I do not trust cops when I am in a truck. She could not believe some of the things I told her on how I was treated and talked too by officers while in a big truck. She had this vision of cops from her brother and friends she knew back home. One week she was on the truck with me and she encountered just how some cops react and perceive truck drivers. We had just fueled at pilot in east st louie. We was at the red light facing gateway speed way. At the time I was with maverick in a auto tranny. The wiring fried and the truck would not move. I put on my 4-ways and put out my triangles then q commed and called in.
A wrecker was dispatched. A local stopped and just went off on me. I said sir I am broke down and can not move. I am waiting on a wrecker. He acted like a total jerk. Still was going off ranting and rating like some idiot. He said there was going to be a race for pinks across the road and traffic would be bad and I had to move now. I told him again I am broke down and can't move and I am waiting on a wrecker. He was still ranting like a idiot. He left and my wife could not believe how he reacted. I told her I told you this is how most respond to truck drivers. I act no differently at home, out of state, or on here as in real life.
Only in a truck am I treated like a felon or some 2nd class citizen by LEO's. Low and behold the cop with the chip on his shoulder came back in about 10 minutes and chewed me out again for about 10 minutes. "I told you that you have to move." Sir; again I am broke down. I am not in the intersection. I am only blocking one lane not intentionally. I am slowing traffic down, but not stopping it. I am waiting on a wrecker. He was still going off. He drove off and I called mav to check the status of the wrecker and explain the situation with this cop. Low and behold while I am on the phone he comes back ranting and raving. Chewing me out. Mav can hear him and said you got to be kidding. This guy is a jerk!
I told the officer sir if you don't mind I am on the phone. I have told you the situation. I can not move I am right now checking on the wrecker. He yells if you don't move this truck by the time I come back I will impound your truck and get it towed. Mav on the phone hears this and starts laughing and tells me go ahead and tell the jerk to impound it. We are waiting on the same wrecker company to come out. They are all tied up on calls at the time. The idiot cop has no regard that I am on the phone. He yells at me the whole time I am speaking to mav.
This is why I do not trust cops on the road. True; not all are that way. I have met some nice ones, but most are not. Injun if you watch cops on TV. You will always see some idiot running and resisting arrest. When asked why after they are caught. I was scared, or I did not know you was a cop. 15 cars with lights on..
In those situations that is what most cops deal with. If he thought you was dealing; yes he has a chance of being injured, shot or killed, but as a truck driver; especially a female; trucks park in bad areas. It is not like you are at home. Any nut case, crack head, could be looking to rob, rape or kill you. Truckers will be gone the next day, in another state. They won't be there to pursue or follow up. The crooks know you are a easy target. Cases like this. I side with you. Get a lawsuit. Win a settlement and teach rogue deputy with the big fish, small pond syndrome that some truckers aren't trash. -
Something you might want to consider doing if the sheriffs dept does not want to talk to you is call the county seat. Talk to the commisioners office and then the county attorneys office. After all it's the county that will have to pay any claim not the sheriffs office. The outside pressure might get them to talk to you. Also if he had to make a report because of your injury then his supervisor already knows about it because he is the one making him fill out the report. So this means he also knew about it while CHP was still there.
Now don't go juding all LEOs by this jerk. As hard as departments try to weed out the cowboys you can't judge how someone is going to handle the stress of the job. our how they are going to conduct themselfs when turned loose on the gereral public. All we can due is when we witness inappropriate behavior by a officer is make a complant to the department, That is also the bonus of dash cameras. Not only due the protect the department from false claims it also gives them a way to monitor the conduct of there officers.
To all the LEOs out there reading this remember John Wayne shot a gun that didn't run out of bullets, so y'll be careful and be safe out there.Injun Thanks this.
