TMC just sent me a prehire to my school, kind of excited about that, as its the first one to get back. Mansur came in and gave us propably one of the best "displays" we saw from any recruiter, and then called the school back to let them know hes not prehiring/hiring anyone right now because they have no available trucks... :biggrin_2554:

i called maverick and they said theyre only looking for people for specialized at the time being, and everything ive heard/read sounds like to stay away from the glass hauling.

I bank at U.S. Bank, and they do pending withdrawls, but not pending deposits. If they get the deposit pending on thursday, you get the money friday, or really early saturday (4 a.m.) morning when there business day rolls over. If all else fails check with people you drive with and see who they bank with and when they get paid. I like U.S. because i suck at balancing a checkbook, and you can generally talk them out of an overdraft fee or two...... :biggrin_25519: Wells Fargo - not so much.

They're easy to drive, and easier to back than vans. You just have to learn tarping and securement.

No. Flatbed trailers come curved for the same reason that carpenters check the crown of the rafters before installing them, taking care to place them crown side up. That way, when a load of snow lays on the roof, it's less likely to bow the rafters down the wrong way.

The same logic applies to flatbeds. A trailer that doesn't have a crown in it is pretty much worn out. They can still be used to haul containers and other things like crane parts that would have to lay down flat, and not teeter back and forth on the crown of a trailer

If you have a choice I would recommend Des Moines for orientation. The biggest reason is that you will start to learn driving these trucks in the relatively calm side streets of Des Moines. The traffic around Columbia is atrocious in my opinion.

It would be cruel and unusual punishment unleashed on such nice trucks to start puttin' Swifty's in the seat. It would give new meaning to "chrome don't get you home".

Is it true that you can make $800 to $1000 a week bring home running linehaul with TMC? I am trying to decide bettween TMC for the good hometime, or FFE Transportation doing lease purchase for the good pay.

I don't know if that is bring home or not. From what I took away from a recruter that came to my school...he said that once you are issued your own truck for the first month on average you will gross around 940 a week. After 1 month of being in your truck you will get a raise based on performance. He again said on average you will gross around 1050 a week. Then after 6 months you get your final raise...again on performance which should have you up to 1100 a week. I hope it is not all bs. I decided to sign with them for the hometime, pay, and nice equipment. I will be starting there on the 6th of August.

Yea, I hope it is true also because i think I am going to sign on with them and will be going to orientation this coming Monday. Can you tell me how long I could expect to spend at home on my time off as a line haul driver, and what are the trucks governed at? What will be you be running Fozzy, Line or Longhaul?

I will be running in the linehaul division. They told me that they gurantee you...i think it is 46 or 48 weekends out of 52. When I asked them what they considered a weekend he said sat. and sun. He said the reason for this is because all of there customers are eather closed or won't recieve any shipments on the weekends. To me i think that I will be leaving out sometime sun. afternoon to be at my first stop mon. morning with a fresh 11 hour clock.
