Following too close is not a minor thing in this industry. It is considered a major infraction, even if it didn't cost you a lot of money. The fine schedules seem random and arbitrary in many states. I haven't seen Georgia's.
You will be able to get into the industry, as a driver. Just not right now. I would give it a couple of years and try again. That tailgating/caused crash ticket will be the biggie.
