Absouletly YES. I didn't get into trucking because of the equipment so it makes no difference to me. I got into trucking for the lifestyle and because it is what I was born to do. Yeah I'm strange I know

i have only recently seen on the highways in my area, 2 OLD cab overs. what model, make, year, i don't care. i drove'em too and they suck,suck,suck....
i couldn't be any happier they aren't built anymore (at least not for this country).
no one should have to drive one, unless they have a few screws loose in thier heads.
i say to any newbie that if any company you go to has an older cab over and tell you its YOUR truck to drive..??
tell that (now former boss) to shove it up his AS you can see, i really do not like cab over's -
I drove cab-overs back in "77-83, & it was easier to get around the East-coast. Now i drive a "03 pete & pull tankers around Neb, Ia, & SD.
-
Sure would. I learned on a cabin over back in early 70's. Would operate one now if I could find a nicer one to buy. I still like them.
It's still just driving a darn old truck. Trucking is trucking. -
I started in 2008 and the first truck I was assigned was a Freightliner Argosy. I had it for two weeks while they rebuilt the transmission in the truck they wanted me to originally have. It was dirty and looked like crap, but it paid the bills. I still will run our spare trucks (2000 FLD's) if mine is getting serviced. They look like crap, but you can get the job done.

I still have my 79 K100. It's hard to part with it after driving it 23 yrs. It's parked and still look's good sitting.

Unless they make them now with an elevator on it I might be forced with a gun to my head to get into one but drive it?? Pull the freaking trigger! I do have a reputation to uphold and as Murphy s Law states, that when driving an old piece of junk that's NOT in a parade pulling a float loaded with bikini clad ladies, the biggest gossip monger and fiends you know will see you and tell all your other friends!
Naaah, If ever I get cleared to get back on the road and someone offered me a COE they'll learn a few new four letter words as they watch my skinny arse walk out the door!BigJohn54 Thanks this. -
Considering I drive day cabs, the bunk part doesn't really apply to me. That having been said, would I take a Transtar II cab over day cab over the Transtar 8600s we are driving now?
Yes. -
when i started out. in a 1969 int.transtar 1600.no ac.wedge brakes.spring sup.tube type tires.running flatbed.northeast!back then we were trucking!! LOL
-
Boy. that brings back some memories. The second truck that I drove was a Transtar cabover. That was around 1970-71. Yep, that was real trucking. I suppose that is one reason I have always had a soft spot for International.
