Reprecussions of quitting first year on the road...

yep, i quit usa truck 8 months after signing a contract with them in 2004. they were taking the $5000 out for my cdl's anyway plus escrow $50 a week (max $500) its added up that they were taking like a total of $150 a week out of my check for everything. so i ended up quiting because i got a couple check for -$150 thats minus $150.00 but that was a long time ago

Its funny but they dont give credit for the time served. They will want it all back.
No they dont take you to court, so you can resolve it. They send it to collections. Then if that does not work they sell the debt and you will be hounded till?

 

If a person will take the time to read these boards it has been well established that letting the trucking companies pay for your CDL is just not worth it. I guess the only time I would say it is worth it is if you are already making less than 30,000 per year and or you are currently without a job. If you were starting from basically nothing then maybe it would be worth it just to get the experience.

More and more companies are checking credit when they do their background checks. It is not a good idea to invite blackmarks onto your credit file. I am choosing to pay down some of my bills which will increase my credit score from 692 to well over 700. AND, I will save up enough money to comfortably pay for my own training. This way the company that I apply to will see me as a quality individual with good credit and the gumption to pay my own way. I don't have any accidents, tickets, DUI's or felonies on my record. GEE...imagine that LOL! I have one incident on my record from my first non-cdl trucking job and it might hurt me. But by the time I'm ready to apply it will be almost 5 years old. Since so many companies list that they will hire for all of these things after a period of time, I should be ok.
