Just remember the system may stop working for some reason. You should know how to do a paper log, but i will use my laptop with driversdailylog software on it. And if my laptop has a brain fart, I will use Iddl on my iphone.

Is it really that hard to run legal? I mean some say its almost impossible these days. How many drivers out there today do not run legal? Are the "legal" drivers a minority? Some say you cant make any money if you run completely legal.....Is this true ?
-
You can make money running legal. You can make more not running legal though lol.

Thanks Bob...touche'...guess i asked for that one.....

You know what? I think that those who like elog because it's "giving" them more drive time, they never really knew how to use their HOS to their advantage. So, they like having a nanny-box to calculate their hrs for them. I have problems with this machine that would never have were I on paper. And I am not talking about being illegal because if you are on paper and you know how to calculate your hrs right and track them and communicate them to your dsp and load planner and they respect your PTAs, you will run good miles and be legal. I know cause that's what I was doing till company installed this silly machine in the truck. It's not saving me much any time other than a few minutes here and there but not much and for all the hassle of dealing with this pain in the neck, and control and restrictions now, I would rather still be on paper.
And the worst of all, in my company, we can't read, type or change our status till truck comes to complete stop
And having to change status actual time, every freaking time.... Oh, what a pain....and if you forget, will have to edit it later.... spend even more time re-editing...
It's like taking 3 or 4 steps to accomplish something that could be done with a pen, paper in one step... for those who know how to do it of course...Lilbit Thanks this. -
Many already run legal and make a good living at it. Many are gaining market share by instituting E-Logs on driver's that are either to stupid, simple, or slow to avoid form and manner tickets.
Many realize the shift that CSA is bringing about in regards to shippers and receivers wanting to work with compliant companies, and intitute them as a sign of correcting a problem.
Many are convinced the sky is falling and the world will cease to rotate the sun for the very same reasonsECU51 Thanks this. -
Changing of duty status...now thats hard....tap the touch screen twice (3 at most)...real hard. There is NO way you are going to update your paper log faster then I can update my status on elogs. (grab book and pen. open page, draw line, flag where you are what you did etc etc etc meanwhile I've already finished and on to something else). And changing it every time, actual time (Like you are SUPPOSED to) that is just so tough. I think you have it bass akwards , paper logs take multi steps, elogs just a couple taps of the screen and done.Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
PAPERLOG'S the ONLY way to go.
Rocks and lostNfound Thank this. -
So I guess its safe to say there are just as many for as there are against then .....
