We have a local company here called Jade Trucking that runs older trucks that look like they have been rebuilt. Lots of chrome and shine, but not usually anything too extreme. I don't know anything about the company I just see their trucks around.
This morning I saw one, (a 1970's?) Mack, that appeared to have been chopped the way you'd do a t-bucket Ford hotrod. He also had done something to the fenders to make it look lowered (I'm assuming nobody would actually lower a semi). It was a daycab, but there was a huge space between the cab and the fifth wheel, so I assume there's plans for some sort of sleeper in the future.
Very cool looking truck, at any rate, and he was hauling a working reefer unit, so it actually works for a living at least part of the time.
So my question is: How common is this level of customization, especially in a truck that gets used as a truck?

I doubt it's co trk, most likely a o/o who leases the trk to the co

I don't know. It's in their green colours with their logo, and all of their trucks are older and shiny, but other than that I know nothing about the company or their drivers.
I was just surprised to see one so modified actually pulling a load. -
could have been a old car hauler truck, they have shorter roofs on them for the rack that goes over the cab, also they have low profile tires, they might have put taller rubber on making it look lowered and the lower roof line made it look like a chop top, with a nice paint job i could see it looking pretty cool.
the majority of the trucks that i see on the road are factory trim some with some chrome accessory. every once in a while i see a tricked out truck working, always assume there o/o rigs -
Lot of Canadian Trucking Companies have PLAY TOYS , that use to pull loads.
KURTZ in Ontario has a few older restored KWS , there is another JADE in Ontario that has quite a few restored tractors that they use regularly. -
Lots of company owners have "show" trucks that are still plated and capable of hauling legally, even though they may only get used on an occasional basis... if at all. Rosenau Transportation is one I have seen locally (Calgary).
Stretched out frames are quite common (especially in California), but some guys will do that up here as well. And yes, some guys do lower their trucks. In fact, Western Star offers a lowered truck from the factory:

does anyone watch american trucker on the speed channel the host is big time in rebuilding and costomizing trucks but trucks are cool all around dont we do this cuz we love trucks and trucking lol

I don't think so...it had that raked look with the back higher than the front like a hotrod, and the fenders looked like something off an old car. I wish I'd had a camera...hard to describe properly.

that show would probably be watchable if it werent for that extremely annoying host. I think he should go back to interior design -
theres a couple of local companies around me that run alot of chrome, freeport transport and cory fox are two, big shiny large cars for sure.
