I am searching for a Owner Op. that has the miles for me to drive. I have been driving for 4 months and 16 days teaming with my husband. He was deported and is not coming back so i am starting my life over. I am on a low carb diet. I am looking for a respectful, decent, and honest person.
Thanks for reading my ad. Melony

Have you checked with the company that he was leased to and see if they can put you with another owner operator or in a company truck?

Yes infact i have checked with all 3 companies we worked for and none of them have a woman driver they can team with me. I think my husband is so mad at me for not sending him money and sending him divorce papers i think he has called these companies to make sure they don't give me a good reference. I am not sure what to do. The companies we did work for where all owned by Asian Indians because he didn't have a work permit. Can you give me some advice?

If you have a clean mvr I would check with some of the major carriers who hire inexperienced drivers. Most carriers require at least 6 months to 1 year of driving experience. Since you are short on driving experience, I would check with some of them and see if they can put you with a trailer or possibly even put you in a truck by yourself. Check with Swift, Roehl, Millis and CRST. All do training. There are others, but none come to mind right now. You can also check the company listings on this and some of the other websites. I know www.classadrivers.com has a company listings that has the minimum hiring requirements for drivers. I have not looked at this site to see if it has the same information. If you live near a truck stop go by and pick up some of the trucking magazines. Many of the carriers have ads for drivers that lists hiring requirements. I would also check with your local state employment office. Some of the trucking websites have online applications you can fill out that will match you to carriers who hire with your qualifications. You may need to do some leg work to find a job. If you were with 3 different carriers in 4 months, it may create a problem with some carriers. Once you find a job, I would stick with them for at least a year before moving on. The longer the better. I would go back to the carriers where you worked and see if you can get a letter of reference from them. That may also help. In any case, you have your log books to prove how long you have driven. One other thing you may want to do is get a copy of your DAC to see if anything negative has been reported. Not all carriers subscribe to DAC, but most of the larger carriers do.

Thanks! I have been sending out applications for a week. I am talking to a few big companies but i wanted to go with a smaller company that offers benefits or owner op. I live in Fresno, CA. but i flew out to Grandrapids, MI. when this all happened. I was so depressed i couldn't stop crying and needed to be around family but the winters up here are too cold for me. I plan on ending up in Florida and later on going back to college for Wildlife Tech. I am trying to find a driving position running from Florida to CA. or TX.

CRST has a terminal in Fontana, CA. It is off I-10 near the Cherry Street exit. I don't know about the others. Florida is not a good area to live if you want to be a driver. If you want to live in Florida then you may want to consider going with a reefer company. Some carriers avoid Florida completely due to the lack of freight, at least with a decent rate. Many carriers don't hire in that area. Some also don't hire out of California. There are a lot of carriers who base out of Texas. There are a couple of large freight brokers in Fresno. You might check with them to see if they know any carriers who might hire you. There is also a truck stop off hwy 58 that may have jobs posted on a drivers board.

If you are still in Grand Rapids, you may check with any of the truck stops nearby to see if they have jobs posted, too. Some of the state employment offices are connected to other states websites and might have something in the areas where you want to move. If you have internet access on your own, you may be able to access jobs in different states yourself.

Thanks for all your suggestion. CRST and US Express are both talking about sending me west coast to start with them. The days and nights are so long when your not working. I just need to have patience i guess. Have a awesome night! Melony

You do need patience when it comes to looking for a good driving job. Some carriers don't get in a big hurry and it seems when you need a job it always takes longer that you would like.
