I did some research into it yesterday. It looks pretty cool. But even at 1.85 per hour it's pretty pricey. I could see myself paying for it 1 day per week on the 34 hour forced rest period. If I understood the pricing, I'd have to pay 4 dollars per hour if I wanted to actually connect my laptop. Otherwise I'd have to use that funny looking little touch screen.

Its pricey for the company driver if your company doesn't pay for it. But for an O/O its cheaper. Figure on average one gallon of fuel burned an hr at idle. Fuel is $2.79 to over $3 a gallon right now.

I haven't been able to get past the idea that NY won't allow you to idle unless you have a pet. The life of the pet is more important than the driver? People have been known to freeze to death. But dying of heat exhaustion is an even bigger risk.

I can't believe that it takes a gallon of gas per hour to Idle..not that I don't believe it but that it just surprised me. That's HORRIBLE. I think all trucks should have the AUP's on board.

With the environmentalists breathing down the companies necks I'm sure that someday they will all roll off the assembly line with it as a standard feature. But I wonder how many years that will take?

Idleaire is cheaper for O/O. But here's the funny part, states with idle laws have the fewest Idleaire locations. I think NY only has 2 in the whole state and one of those is in NYC.

If there is no Idleaire I run the truck. I need to rest compfortably to safely make money. I'll take the ticket and it could possibly be the last money I ever spend in the state.

I don't travel to yankee land, but if any of these anti idling states think I'm going to sweat or freeze, they can suck my hairy southern #####.

You've said it. Stick it em! How many people are going to die, both in terms of truckers and in innocents ran over by tired drivers, before some of those stupid politicians will wake and say "You know what? These laws are stupid."? We're human, people!

That is $4 for a 24 hour period.

Thanks. That's cool. It's not too much money but it could add up. I'd have to limite myself to only certain days per week. Hopefully, Wi Fi would be working some of the other days. A few weeks ago I passsed a rest stop that said it had Wi Fi.
