Going back to werner. I was with them for about a year and a half and left for a local company. I left that company voluntarily about ten months ago. Since i have been out of the driver's seat for so long i thought it would be good to get a refresher from Werner.

Are they hiring?
Heard one of them truck driver stories saying that they are closing shop. (Which makes no sense to me) -
Are you a glutton for punishment? Did you try other companies? Who suggested you get a refresher? You may not need one, especially from Werner.

Have fun getting your refresher to maybe get a truck. I watched grown men almost in tears having to wait in a lobby waiting on a truck. I quit before they got a truck and they were days ahead of me on the truck list. One of them was a student and the other was a qualified driver.

I hear it is almost 0% turnover, drivers hire on and never leave. Must be some company to drive for. Well good luck on the second time around.
Lonesome Thanks this. -

Yeap and that happens pretty much all the time, heck I have read of drivers waiting for week or two just to get a truck.Wow gotta love Werner...NOT!

Talked to a young man 2 years ago who went through the Werner training program - driving with a trainer for six weeks I believe. Making around $300.00 bucks a week I think ( could be wrong on that $ amount). After his training time was completed and he was put on the truck list, he waited over 3 weeks to be assigned a truck. After the 4th week waiting without any pay he told them forget it. Which is werner's plan from the start, me thinks. Cheap labor for the training period then starve 'em out. Then put another trainee through the werner trucking experience. His hope for a new career and better financial sitaution for his family were dashed. He felt totally duped.
Yodler Thanks this. -
My idea of a refresher was just to get back behind the wheel. I did not need any extra training.

I am probably only going to stay with them for about 3-6 months. I could have applied to some local companies but that would mean Northeast regional. I am not really fond of that area, even though I live there.
