I was just at the Morris TA and it looked like they were expanding their parking. I hope so, cause they do have great food. They could double their lot, and probably get a whole bunch more business.

Somebody needs to buy up that one on the southwest side and reopen it.

That Citgo is owned by middle-eastern terrorists. (That's why they sell Hugh Chavez's fuel brand) :biggrin_25513:

Since you mentioned Remington, .. that's the route I take when I haven't scaled my load yet and I'm headed that way. I absolutely refuse to stop at that I-55 truck stop, not even to scale, so I'll get off at Rt 53, make a right-left onto Remington and take it down to Weber Rd and get back on I-55 and scale somewhere out on I-80.

Last time I was at the I-55 truck stop in Bolingbrook the downstairs bathroom was full and I had to take a #### so I went to the one upstairs. Well I had to hold my hand over the "glory hole" in the stall wall. There's 3 stalls and I was on the far right. The other two were "occupied". I heard whispering coming from the middle stall, and when I was washing my hands I glanced back and saw feet facing the left wall in the middle stall, and some dude was on his knees in the far left stall, facing the middle stall. I told the meth-addict cashier about it and she just shrugged her shoulders and said "eh, whatever".

I've also heard rumors about roaches in the restaurant.

Has anyone ordered that big giant burger they have there? I figure I could split it with someone but my girlriend is the only person I ever have with me when I'm there, and she eats like a bird.

Same thing at Bosselman's truck stops. I always wanted to order the "Big Max" but didn't. Same reason.

Are you talking about the one at Jct of I-55 and US 30? That place was IMPOSSIBLE to get out of, you had to pull out and make a left, no light to stop the never-ending flow of traffic on Rt 30.

The local government closed that truck stop. (Not sure if it's Joliet or Plainfield) They closed it by denying permits or re-zoning or something because they wanted to get rid of the trucks. They thought it was hurting their precious business district on the south side of I-55. They wanted someone to buy it and convert it to something where 4-wheelers shop and start expanding the business district north of I-55. Never happened, the only thing they accomplished was losing the tax revenue from that truck stop.:biggrin_25513:

I wondered what happened to it. I was never there while it was open.

It was nothing special. Average size lot, old building, decent restaurant but not spectacular. It just pisses me off that it was shut down on purpose, by local bureacrats, for absolutely no fault of the truck stop, at a time when we needed MORE places to park trucks in this area, not LESS. If it was shut down by the health department or something, it would be a different story.

I've been hoping for years though, that a big chain would buy out the truck stop at I-55 and IL Rt 53 in Bolingbrook though. The area can't afford the loss of that parking lot, but at the same time it's always been a #### hole as long as it's been a "mom & pop" because the "mom & pop" who own it don't ever bother with any type of security, they charge for parking and can't even get a license to sell cigarettes.

I used to live in Romeoville, which is the next town south of Bolingbrook. I used to read in the newspaper, it seems like once or twice a year the Chicago area metropolitan narcotics squad (mercenaries with machine guns, basically) was always doing raids there, finding entire 40,000 lb truckloads of illegal drugs there. When I drove for Covenant Transport, it was one of the truck stops we were not allowed to park at, citing cargo theft risk. Don't EVER park and sleep there with a loaded trailer. I wouldn't even trust a padlock. :biggrin_25513:

A broker tried to tell me to stay there because I had a delivery nearby, I declined in no uncertain terms. He was the one that told me about the one at Joliet being closed. It was in one of those winter storms, I stayed where I knew I could get moving and drove in after it let up.

You can drive back down on the other side of I-55 down towards the southbound coop and park on the street, it would be less troublesome than that place.

The lot has been repaired, and that one on Pershing Rd has been fixed, it's now a BP I think, as well.

The lot has some asphalt but last time I went by it looked like it was still mostly gravel. And I'm sure the lot lizards are still around. I think you're right about it being a BP now. So I guess Hugo Chavez sold it to the British.
