Flyingmusician, I did not lie about anything I said, so I know what I said is true more than "To a degree". You were not in my orientation either and I just went through in March, so there's a pretty good chance it has not changed. I just know the driver who did not get the trailer backed in was there on Friday waiting for his trainer, but I couldn't tell you if he made it or not. Like you, I was impressed with the training program and I recently retired from a 30 year career as a Police Officer and I am also an Instrument Rated Private Pilot and own and fly a Beechcraft Bonanza. So training is something I expect to be be up to par. Good luck on upgrading and you will love it here at EPES. I live in Knoxville, TN, but I run out of the Chester, Va Terminal. See you on the road.

maybe I just got stuck with a bad batch of students in my orientation....you never know....I can only relate the experience that I had during my time in orientation which, obviously, will be different than someone else's....but we lost half the experienced drivers as well out of that group....I do know they got 3 others from my class in school who came in after me and they all made it through hopefully that reflects well on the school....

yeah you gotta love those bonanzas.....sweet aircraft i've got about 15 hours in one.....

I generally fly a 182RG, seneca and have a couple hundred hours in the 727-100 in the right seat.....now there's a hotrod lol.....i've got a comm / instr / multi

it is a good company without a doubt and I feel any of us that are there are lucky to be there as opposed to alot of other things i've seen about alot of other companies on here.

I'm seeing alot of pilots or former pilots getting into trucks lately.....that's nothing but a good thing in my opinion lol.....maybe will raise the performance level overall.....and certainly reflects on the downturn in the aviation business as well

I was just in chester last week on the way back from NH....that's a pretty good terminal....

I do love my Bonanza! I cruise at 170 MPH at 12 GPH and that ain't bad. I don't get to fly her as much since I started driving for Epes, but she is ready when I get the chance. I love the Chester terminal! Talk to you again soon!

I would Like to THANK EPES TRANSPORT for giving me the chance to drive for them again. EPES is a Class act trucking company, and they bend over backwards to help the driver and customer.
I'm going back to work LOCAL and help raise my 2 yr old grandson who's living with us.
Thankyou EPES for everything u've done for me, this was a very hard decision to make for my wife and I.

    Take care

helllo all......i was actually a little surprsied to have a few of you PM me to see how things were going since I hadn't posted in a couple weeks.....

been running hard finishing out training......in the 6 weeks ending friday, my miles add up to just over 18,000

been doing alot of northeast with only one run down south in the last 2 weeks....was in chester again thursday night and saw a couple of guys i knew and hung out with them for awhile.....so far, not a single bad apple in any of the bunch i've met and that's really encouraging.

monday i test out and get my own truck, so i'll be out on my own then......but given the outstanding training i've gotten over the 6 weeks, i feel pretty well prepared to get out there on my own.....anyone that wants my truck number just pm me and i'll be glad to give it to you and would love to meet some of you if you see me out there

well I made it.....the weeks of school and weeks with the trainer and all the northeast running paid off lol......

tested out this morning and passed with no problems......officially hired and part of the Epes team now.

have to wait on my truck until tomorrow because the guy turning it in is inbound from.......where else? the northeast haha......going to have it serviced and detailed this evening/tonight and i move in to it tomorrow and head out on my way.

much thanks to all who have helped me along the way within the Epes drivers I have met....so far all of you have been nothing but class acts, all......i'm sure i'll be giving some of you a call along the way if I run across something I haven't had to deal with yet......but starting tomorrow....

    a new adventure begins lol.......

lol just sent you a pm......

been running hard and resting little.....usually i'm just barely getting my 10 in and rolling again.....that #### i-phone i've got is a pain in the ### to try and post anything online with.....working on getting the laptop going but i've got other stuff to get for the truck first

I finally got my truck.....and dammed 2012 volvo with elogs......not exactly what I wanted and the only glitch so far......i sat for 4 days last week waiting to get the truck and then only got one load in before the weekend.......I would have stayed out but already had plans to go out of town for the weekend that were made months ago so I couldn't really bail on them......so i ran out friday morning to georgia and back and ended up with minimum miles payment for the week which kinda sucked but my DM made sure to get me rolling with something as soon as I got the truck so i didn't end up broke for the week.....so far he's been pretty good to work with and we sat down and talked before I went out and he knows what I expect from him

other than that, run hard the first week out....up to new york, across new york, down to georgia and then back up to nc in 4 days......t-called a load this morning that i'm staying on and only getting a 34 this week before i go back out late saturday night for michigan.......

sucks to have a slow truck but seems like the freight is there.....i haven't sat more than 30 minutes waiting for a load and generally the pickup is close to where I am and the miles are long on the load.

getting into the process of outfitting the truck now.....got a tv, fridge and microwave just have to get the inverter installed and then it will be alot more bearable lol

really gotta shake my head at those idiots in the truckstops lol.....######## pulling in and blocking the way out and/or blocking you in...not backing all the way into a spot so their tractor is sticking so far out into the lane you can't pull out far enough to get out of your own spot....idiots......knowing you got there first and are going to have to leave before them lol....####### supertruckers....i know they're more important than everyone else but geez....wilco in troutman last week and not only did some ####### park in the lane going out, but another dummy pulled in right beside him and parked, completely blocked the only way out and the when he went to leave his truck wouldn't start.....that was alot of fun trying to get out of that one.....and i was parked on an end spot that looked like a really good one to get of the lot when i had to roll at 2am......ended up going to wrong way over the scales (the only thing in the place that wasn't blocked lol) and going out the entrance.....seems like every day I'm seeing why we truckers have such a bad name nowadays....the stupidity and disrespect of others is rampant.....thankfully alot of our customers allow overnight parking lol.....i'm a night owl and trying to keep thing on a schedule so that i'm running at night or in the wee hours of the morning.....seems like the more professional guys/gals are on the road then and the idiots are out in the daylight.....got lucky last night and woke up and had epes on either side of me in the rest area.....i looked at it before i laid down knowing it was going to be a ##### to get out of but it was the only spot and that ###### box kept telling me "you have zero hours and 15 minutes of drive time remaining" lol i could just throw that ####### elog out the window already......but being epes guys, they had enough sense to park far enough away on either side that I had plenty of room to get out when 3am came and it was time to roll.....

so far so good though....i'm enjoying the miles and meeting a bunch of good people so far.....just hate that elog....
