What list? There's no list of illegal radio using LEO's. Because they all would lose their jobs. :mconfused::Wrench:

Well let me see if I can get this thread back on track. I currently have a problem with my radio or mic. Not sure which one is causing bad static when I key up. Thinking about buying a new mic just to see if that will cure the problem.

When I key up the mic I get real bad static coming out of the radio speaker. I have an echo board in the radio but only have the echo turned up enough for clarity, not to blast everyone out with "super echo". Whats weird is it does not do it all the time. Sometimes everything works great then other times I get that terrible static so forget trying to talk into the mic.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    just a thought .....

On one of my 2 meter radios I had a bad PPT switch and it would sound stacticy when you had it pushed and raddled your finger.

You could try a new mic or check the solder connections on the echo board.Personally I'd just remove the echo board, I have never believed they add clarity or enhance your transmit audio in any way, shape or form.

Our county does have one boat on the lake but my city is no where near this lake.I understand the sheriff boat having a VHF marine radio to monitor channel 16 and to have comms with other boaters. The local PD will use VHF maritime channel 23 for discrete comms and at times just idle ####-chat

Turn your am/FM completely off***then try and key up

    1) the CB isn't grounded good enough
    2) Your radio is tweaked abit much and is blasting(some call it splatter)
the other frequencies(bleed over) and your hearing the RF in the speaker.

Lemme guess, you drive a Peterbuilt and the CB is mounted over head?

If the stereo has a detachable face, remove it completely before key up
