yep everyday, and at the commercial truck trader as well. Even craigs list lol.

I'm hopeing to find an old O/O who's retireing and selling his 3-8 yr old truck but not have to much luck with that though....:biggrin_2559: Although I did find a SWEET 379 last night for sale with a 48' reefer.

An older 359 is about the same price as a newer century should tell you something right there.....359's can be had with a factory stand up sleeper there aren't as many for sale on the market but they are out there...I *think* truckpaper has one or two listed now last I checked a few days ago..

Wants and needs are two very different things. I started my search with both lists and put a price tag on the "wants" as much as I could. It is amazing when you start figuring out the numbers how expensive "wants" can be. I am not sure many O/O's ever really do this on the level that a business person should.
With that said, based on going FB, if you keeping watching TP and Craiglist, you should be able to find a good value on a truck that is older that has had the engine rebuilt or at least the upper end rebuilt in the past 200K miles.
Now that is just addressing your question. I am sure you know that you have a lot of other considerations while looking. Good luck.

i will say this, if you are dead set on a hood, check ex-werner trucks on truckpaper, they seem to fit your specs. my only word of caution with ex-werner trucks is: make sure you have all the warranty info for the engine checked to see what has-hasn't been done and get some kind of warranty with it. have seen a lot of good werner trucks run a long time after they sell them. just my .02.

Well if you want a hood get a hood, even if you have to wait a little while longer before making a purchase, there is no sense in buying a truck that you wouldn't be happy with and being miserable driving it, otherwise what's the point in goin o/o.. That being said I would go with an older truck 02 and older, that way you don't have to worry about all the emissions crap.. Hoods don't get the best fuel mileage but if you gonna pull a flat then it really isn't gonna make that much of a difference anyway..
I got an 02 379 with a 550 cat, mostly with a bullrack behind it and on occasion a stepdeck. Fuel mileage sucks with the bullrack, and it's not all that great with the flat but a little improvement, fuel mileage isn't everything to me because I have the truck I want and like, and not some ugly plastic pos, and I refuse to haul cheap crap, which some people are still having trouble understanding.. I guess the bottom line is get what you want and don't settle for something that will just pay the bills and nothing more...

actually, they are 9spd that are convertable to a 13spd, and they have quite a few in black, red, tan, yellow, etc. you just have to look for them. i believe pete in st louis has some black ones on truckpaper now. but i understand not wanting to take the risk on them. werner doesnt have the best maint record.
