I'll state it AGAIN so that I make my point perfectly CLEAR!

Unless you want to wait in line all day and watch 100 other people drive, avoid S&S!

"if" you want to learn how to "drive" a Rig, then go to Winsor. The guy who runs it is a real tough xxxxx BUT, he'll make sure you can drive a truck because, thats what you do all day long is LEARN TO DRIVE - PERIOD!

Go to S&S if you want a 2 year vacation/unemployment.

You are right about that guy who runs Winsor, I watched him berate his employees in front of me and it was very insulting. He needs to deal with You are right about that guy who runs Winsor, I watched him berate his employees in front of me and it was very insulting. He needs to deal with the state of his trucks too. But over all, you are much better there than at S and S. Everyone that I know that went to S and S says that it is a rip off and they had to push to get out of there. I read storys about people who dont get tested for 3-6 months at s and s and then fail! Winsor was much more relaxed too.

just to update on this thread, I recently was hired at Prime Inc out Mo I have been training for the last three weeks and my trainer Is very professional( I feel lucky about that) I do have to drive for 60,000 team miles tough which is 3-3.5 months but so far my experience has been very positive. we are on a three day break so I am in a hotel for the weekend. we have been driving pretty much back and forth from east to west coast runs. the toughest thing besides being from home for long periods is learning how to sleep in a moving truck.also for those of you that have sleep apnea prime has a excellent program in which you can use your machine on the truck and be dot compliant.I know this because I was diagosed with it during my dot physical at the orientation which lasts 2.5 days. I may sound like a recruiter but i am not a am trainee for just giving you my account of the trucking life/job.everything I have been told by my recruiter and all of the prime staff is true. top notch place if you want my .02 anyplace where they have a indoor basketball court is allright with me. more later.....

Angel_King, I know it's a lil bit of a read but if you went through the thread you would see that he is not in the school anymore. He passed the test and is now working for Werner, and has been for almost a year.

Yes S&S was crowded but my bf was dedicated and was in and out in 3 months. He learned the basics to pass the test and was hired by Werner where he had a tough but knowledgable trainer that taught him well. He has now been working for Werner for almost a year.

Not everyone has the same experiences at S&S. Everyone has to do their on research and pick their own school. Plenty of unmotivated and lazy students use driving schools for a free ride on unemployment but those who really want the license can get it at S&S, Windsor or any driving school of their choosing.

I was visiting the linden school today they only had a few people training and more than a few trucks park, I was offered to start training next week if i wanted they also offered me a nice payment plan, 211.00 over 18 months after a 15% military discount i think is a better deal than signing up with driver solutions.

My twin son's went last year ,total cost was $2,800 each for class A CDL.Once you get the liscence good luck finding a job;that's when the real work starts. The one drove OTR with Werner 3.5 months got terminated for hard braking, found a non driving job. The other twin, currently unemployed, is looking at Swift.Every body wants experience but with so many folk out of work good luck getting that job.Driving schools and training companies are scams that take advantage of desperate people IMO.
