I don't need to, so an explanation would be useless.
Although I will say I have borrowed back 15 minutes here and there in years past. Not saying how, though. Not my business what you plan on doing with any information. Just like it's not my business to tell you how other drivers run theirs.
Go get yourself a generic log book from a truck stop and pick up FMCSR 395 somewhere. Log your car trips the same way we have to log our work. Log it completely legal and begin to understand 395. It won't be long until you figure it out for yourself.
Cheers!
How does one "fudge the log"

we are ALL of character and have sterling qualities, to assume or say or to allude to that we don't is an insult to all of us, whether we be male or female, we each and every one of us have something you will never take away from us by lobbing insults.
"are you a law firm para-legal"...?
"are you an insurance investigator"..??
"are you working on an accident claim and need proof drivers "fudge the log book"..?
"are you in the log book office of a trucking company and you need to know secrets"..??
"are you trying to hang someone"..?
"are you a private eye, looking into a possible divorce case or adultery case for your client"..??
"what is/are your ULTIMATE REASON(S) you think you NEED to know this"..??
i think you have an ulterior motive, and i for one hope you get the crapped kicked outta you from the REAL PEOPLE HERE.....nckid, U4EA, truckinghereandthere and 5 others Thank this. -
Maybe they're writing one of those "truckers are all evil spawn of Satan" stories.
I will say, though, in talking to non-truckers.. for example a young man (20 yr old Army Guard troop), his 17 year old brother and the first guy's 19 year old girlfriend at the RV park pool a few days ago, we got to talking about my recent trip to Kansas, and how my dispatcher expected me to run illegally, and how I refused... and the 17 year old said "I thought all you guys ran two log books and took little white pills".
THAT, ladies and gentlemen, seems to be the perception of the general motoring public, and THAT is a stereotype WE have created.
I encourage everyone here to refrain from even making jokes about 2 log books, backing up your logs, etc, because it perpetuates a stereotype that also casts us as villians at every car wreck or serial murder or kidnapped child.postmandav, Rerun8963, U4EA and 3 others Thank this. -
But there's no #### way you'll get me to give up kicking puppies or tearing the tags off mattresses.American-Trucker, Working Class Patriot, U4EA and 4 others Thank this. -
I'd have posted a definitive answer to the question earlier, but I had two weeks of logs to fix.

Fudging your log book isn't that hard. Pick one up, look at it. You don't even have to be in a truck. Read some of the threads about the delays that drivers get into and think of the best way to extend your day. Then think of some of the policies that companies have and apply them to maximizing your drive time. It's not hard to falsify a log, it just leaves you exposed if something bad happens.

It's all fun and games til someone gets hurt.
You will get a much better answer in person than you will in a public forum.
Just make sure you show the Mountie the right log book......! :^)
Myself I ask why, I never wanted to run that hard. And the risk vs reward is tipped so far it's not worth it. The other side of the coin is if your dispatcher sees this, he will then expect it anytime he asks.
Do what you have to do for yourself, for your own comfort and safety. (Run a little farther for sanctuary.)(and keep it to yourself) Don't do it for the company or the money. Don't do it if your tired. The load will be late for sure if it is on it's side in the ditch!
Stop early for the sure thing, smell the flowers.alds Thanks this. -
We dont kidnap children, we just kill hookers then dump them 5 states away.THBatMan8 Thanks this.
