I pull a can in Mid-west and when I factor out my direct business I am above $2/mile. Current load is from LS at $4/mile with re-load from CHR at $2.60/mile.
And what has been said about cheap is 100% correct. I have CHR tell me all the time that I will not take a load for the rate they could do. They don't even waste my time. Regular CHR load near me that I get twice what others haul it for. Now I won't get that rate three days before it ships but phone rings the afternoon before to see if I'm available.
OK, off topic, watching a driver trying and move a van from one location to another without raising landing gear and just dug the feat into the ground. All bent up and now can't raise them. Hate to make that call.
Do u run off load boards only???

Plus 2 to that.
That's why I closed up shop 5 years ago, I was running local and all I got was garbage cpm. I shut down and am now in a much better position experience wise and life wise to were I can be gone for long times and can also have low over head at home. So all I make will mainly go to the business. This way I am not desperate. Thanks to technology ( I phone) fast Internet in my cab for cheap, and all the load boards, factoring companies , and most of all...all the helpful posts on here, i should be in a much better better position this time around. Last time I was doomed before I started. I was just to inexperinced to see that and understand why.
I'll post up once I get moving. I dont plane on being home for about 2 monthsy first time out. So we will see how the cookie crumbles this time. I think I did alot of learned in the last 5 years. I sure hope I quit learning the hard expensive way lol -

bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
wow! ive never done that, but i have high-hooked once. employer's policy is high-hook = automatic termination. lucky for me it was at a backhaul and the yard dog was mighty cool about it. that was alot easier to get out of, and he didn't rat on me.
