Someone explain...or reaffirm to me....the reaction of the parents at the reading of the verdict.

They looked at each other, then at the lawyer, then got up and left the court room.

    Why? Two possibilities:

    1. They knew, by secret (conversation between them and Casey) confession that Casey did what the DA accused her of doing....and expected the jury to convict. But they couldn't use this secret confession since they didn't have a recording of it and it would only amount to Hearsay evidence...which can't be used.

    2. They had knowledge of the actual death, at the time, and were involved in the "cover up" or even involved in the death. Now, they don't have a scape goat to blame the event on, and they can be tried for the death if some facts come to light....but Casey can't be charged again....Double Jeopardy.

Shouldn't they be "happy" their daughter isn't going to prison for life...(30 years is basically the same thing)...or especially the fact their daughter isn't going to the death chamber.

There is something suspect (in my mind) about their reaction...or lack of reaction!

For last 3 years my thoughts she(Casey) killed Caylee, but i'm starting to think it might have been a drowning but then again, why would she dump the body in the woods?I kinda thinking that this was a cover up by the hold family, grandfather, grandmother, and mother-Casey.Then again she lie and lie about the hold story.Don't forget,George Anthony is an ex-cop,so he know what the CSI and police going look for.Like everyone saying now, there was no DNA or proof of evidence that Casey killed little Caylee, don't get me wrong I still strongly feel she was responsible in someway but I now starting to think it was a cover up by the family expect for the brother.I don't think he know what happen or had anything to do with her death. She should have gotten manslaughter sentence tho.Hold thing is mess up,a little sweet girl is dead and no one pays for her death.Just one big sad even.

May very well be right and I believe it's probably for both reasons you gave.

In the end, she wasn't convicted of a horrible crime, even though she in all probability, was guilty as sin. Now she will likely be free after 3 years and let's not forget the millions that are going to be thrown her way as book and movie deals come out of the woodwork for her. Looks like her life is shaking out to be pretty sweet. Got to kill her little girl, spend 3 years behind bars 'for a crime she didn't commit', and now will be home free for the rest of her life, living the good life.

Geez, I'm glad I believe in a higher judgment. But I would be up for a happy dance if a hungry alligator got ahold of her anytime in the very near future. The idea that she's going to profit from this is enough to make me wanna hurl some more. :puke:

"it is better [one hundred] guilty Persons should escape than that one innocent Person should suffer". Benjamin Franklin.

In my opinion she was guilty as sin but the prosecution didnt prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a murder even occurred. Just that a body was improperly disposed of.

We have a body and someone whose actions have been very suspicious but that shouldnt be enough... and given her psychopathic personality and the fact that she appears to be a pathological lier I can give very little credence to anything she may have said.

In my opinion the investigation of this case was flawed. They missed several opportunities to place the body in the car with absolute certainty as well as recover the body while more evidence may have remained.

What about the victim? In this case, a little defense child. Was it good that her murderer escaped?

While there is a lot of merit in that statement regarding individual 'rights', it is aimed at those that are truly innocent who are charged unfairly. Casey Anthony was not charged unfairly. In addition, at over 200 years ago, things were a lot different then than now. Back then, it was fairly easy to frame someone. Today, not so much.

Unfortunately, today we have mucked up our justice system so much and gone so far to the other side, that now it's hard to convict those that should be convicted and locked up. In today's America, you are only guilty if you are 'convicted.' Today, a lot of murderers walk or are never even charged or they are freed on the most assinine technicality, even when they have admitted they did it.

And because of that, an innocent victim like Caylee Anthony is murdered and justice is not served.

At least not in this life.

    Further information ...

she was sentenced to serve one year for each of the charges of the four lies she told to LEOs plus a thousand dollar fine for each lie. However, she was to serve this concurrently. With time already served, since she's in jail for about three and a half years, she would be out by the end of this month or the end of August 2011. The judge said that he would have to take a day or so to map all this out.

Do I hear "No justice, no peace" echoing in the background?

Somewhere, somebody is cleaning a gun.

Reading through some of the outrage that is exploding from this verdict, I'd be worried if I was the judge, if I was the defense attorney, or if I was on the jury. I would especially be worried if I was the b!tch that got away with it.

I am certainly angry at the verdict as most people are, but there are some people out there that are going downright vigilante. :biggrin_25524:

All you people griping she didn't get convicted on purely circumstantial evidence some of which makes no sense at all if you think about it. (Yeah, duct tape used to smother then stays stuck onto BONE after the flesh that was attached to dissolves? Thats totally possible) need to have yourselves charged with something have the media sensationalize it and have the jury find you guilty because you might have done it whether their is concrete proof or not.

    I believe she is guilty.

They did not prove she was guilty.

All they proved is she is crazy, lies alot, and doesn't show grief in a normal way or at all. Does that mean she killed someone? Maybe. Does it mean she is guilty of MURDER beyond a reasonable doubt? No. Plenty of DOUBT exists.

If you love the constitution so #### much, don't try to skirt it because you believe she was guilty. there was NO concrete proof. They wasted their shot on murder 1 with death penalty on this circus of a trial. Now if they ever get concrete proof they are screwed.
