Yeah that sounds like a good list PSU it does cover everything you will need. If you have it bring some sort of bag for dirty clothes too even just a garbage bag works. I will start orientation today and hope to be out on the road by the weekend will let ya'll know how it goes.

    BraggTN Thanks this.

In CA if you don't have a CA licenses then you have to have a birth certificate to get one. Why? Because in southern CA you can buy SS cards and out of state ids real cheap so you can work on the farms. I guess it's harder to get a birth certificate.

Had the first day of orientation yesterday. Started at 7 am finished at 5 pm. The day was spent in the classroom going over drivers manual watching some videos and learning a bit about the qualcom system. Was a long day with lots of information thrown out at you in a short time. Some of us found out yesterday when we will be heading out with a trainer and some of us will find out today. Other then that was just a day of paper work and information getting us ready for the road. One more day of orientation today and then ready for a trainer.

Milliken350, I was a driver license examiner with the TN Dept. of Safety until last month. Under the Real ID Act, everyone going up a class of license is required to show proof of citizenship. Its the same way if you're changing your license from one state to another as well. All the social security card proves is that you have a number for tax purposes. With that being said, you DON'T have to be a US Citizen to have a social security number and that is why it is necessary to have an original birth certificate or certified copy(not photo copy). This is a federal law enacted to stop illegals from obtaining a regular state ID, drivers license or CDL. Also, make sure it is the state issued birth certificate not the hospital copy. The DMV will not recognize those. I know this is very frustrating but its something we all have to do. I received my birth certificate in less than 2 weeks without paying extra fees for having it expedited. Hope this helps!

Just got my call from the recruiter today with the ticket info. Headed to GA on Sunday. Not sure if I'll have access to a computer but will keep ya'll posted as I can. Tomorrow will be a day of getting my list squared away! Big Rigg...thanks for starting this thread it has really helped. I'm excited about starting a new career. People often ask why I'm quitting a state job to go to truck driving but if they only knew how little I was making. I'll put it this way, an assistant manager for a fastfood company makes almost double what I was making! Older drivers(ones that don't do it anymore) are saying don't go into trucking because there is no money it and that only makes me think that they didn't want to work. Maybe I'm wrong but its a chance I'm willing to take.

Glad to here you will be on your way to school soon. I found out today I will be leaving with my trainer at 3 pm tomorrow so will be out on the road for the next 5 weeks or so. Going to take my laptop with me but not sure if or when I will have acess to internet. If I can will continue posting during the trainer stage. There is money to be made out there if you want to work so go for it.

Great Job BraggTN! I will be leaving from Yakima, WA to Salt Lake City Utah at 11:45pm on Sat. On a Grayhound bus. According to Grayhound the bus has free WiFi and 2 outlets per seat, So I (and you) should have access to the internet for a little while. I do ask that you please post as you can about your training as you will be in GA. In 3 weeks or so we should have 3 diffrent training accounts from 3 of the CRS schools!

I will keep you all upto date on my training.
