    My number was 43.

    They drafted up to number 125 that year.

    I enlisted also !!!

    I was told by my local draft board that my number was 245. When I went for my physical I found it was 45. I think they were drafting up to 195 at the time.

    Yeah... I saw that article. The draft ended just before I became eligible, but in those days you had to be proactive - wasn't healthy being 18 and not 4F. Already had my plan, just went ahead and enlisted as I was going to. At least that way you had choices...

    I remember registering for it but IIRC the draft itself had been stopped a couple years before. I was not very healthy but who knows it seems they were taking most who's number was drawn..

    I always wondered what my number was, they picked numbers in both '73 and '74 after the draft had officially ended. I did some searching and found thru 1976: http://www.sss.gov/lotter1.htm
