Nomad- You coud try a shortsale. It is a little better on your credit than a forclosure, and you can walk away with $3-5000 for moving expenses, depending on the value of the home. You may want to talk to a Realtor about that. You still loose the house, and your credit still gets messed up, but you do not screw it up as bad, and you can walk away with some money. It is worth a shot.

Tinobrugioni14- congrats on the choice. From what I have heard the average solo driver gets 2500 miles per week. At the starting rate of 28cpm (cents per mile) that would come to about $700/week or about $3,000 per month. Now if you and your dad team up you can expect more miles, I would guess about 6000 per week and a higher rate of pay (about 40cpm) paid to the truck. So that is $2400 to split between drivers per week, or about $10,000/month to split. Hope that helps. Maybe some one with some driving experance can illuminate. I am just putting out there what the recruter told me and what I have read on this thread.

We have a guy in our class that is from Los Banos. The school is in Fontana and so is the yard. I am just finishing up with orientation and will be heading out on the road with a trainer soon. You should make more then you are now yes. When you first go out with a trainer you will make $450 a week until you are upgraded and on your own. Hope it all works out for you I loved the school and so far the company. I started a thread under trucking schools about the training if you want to check it out and see if it helps you decieded.

So I am packing up my duffle bag to go out with my trainer. I have 4 pair of jeans 4 pair of shorts and some shirts for clothing. All my tolietries, towel, flip flops and a bag for dirty clothes. I have a sleeping bag and a pillow and a small bottle of laundry soap. Should I take along my work boots as well as my shoes? My shoes are steel toed braums that are like tennis shoes. I also have a light rain coat living in CA don't have much in way of coats or jackets. Will this work or should I get something else?

Was also wondering about bringing my laptop along. Thought that I could use it for at least entertainment before some sleeper berth time. Got pen and paper and stuff like that to take along too. Was waiting to talk to the trainer first to see about food. Is there anything I am missing or something I am taking that I shouldn't? Thanks for the help guys and gals hope to see you on the road soon.

Skip the rain coat. Weather is really warm now. Both shoes will b ok. Can't wear both at the same time but you may find one more comfortable driving. My current student did and found his boots to be better. To each his own.

Helps a lot thanks I'm just going into this blind and looking for someone with some experience to see if miles have been consistent or not. And fontana is just for the academy right?? Or will I have to go there every time to pick up a load??

Fontana is a terrminal. So, there is school, repair, safety, dispatch, etc all there. You can pick up a dropped load there, and drop loads there. There are a number of places in the area we pick up and deliver, so loads in that area aren't usually an issue. We usually run through that area at least twice a week. We also stay out for 6 weeks or more, but it is really our choice how long we stay out (we are owner op though, so when we sit at home expenses pile up, and we don't earn anything).

Big rigg, I would still bring a light jacket (it is still cold at night in higher altitudes), but that is my thought

Hello I will be starting CDL school in Salt lake on Monday. I know Trainer will have controle of the stero. But I am trying to get a head start on when I get my upgrade. I am copying some cd's. I can put more songs on a cd if I put them on in mp3 format. This would be good, for less stuff and less changing of cds. Basicly what I want to know is will the sound systems read mp3's on a cd? Thanks.

Big rigg, cold and rain don't affect roadrunner...:biggrin_25525: I am in Kansas City right now and it is a downpour!! Keep the rain jacket and get a good hat or cap. Last time I was home, I left the heavy duty boots and grabbed another pair of tennis shoes. A spare pair is always a good thing to have. Sunscreen is a must for me when it is 100°+...I'm from the Beautiful Pacific Northwest, we don't get too many days over 90°...:biggrin_25510: :biggrin_25525:
