Driving Record Question

I am scared that I am going to apply to a school and get out there, have something that I mistakenly screwed up on my application and then get sent home. So, I'm going to go get a copy of my driving record to be sure I can list everything with 100% accuracy.

4 or 5 years ago I believe I got a 5 over in Ohio (not my home state). If I get my driving record in my home state will it show my violations elsewhere or do I have to try to get my Ohio record too?

 

it SHOULD be on there, if not i would put it on applications anyway. You DO NOT want them to find out you hid something....


A small ticket like that, being that long ago isnt a big deal at all.

A MVR you pull from a state only shows your history from that state. If you had a license in multiple states, you'll need to get a MVR from each one. One state cannot look up your MVR from another. All they can tell is whether or not your license is suspended.

5 over the limit is no big deal. If you have questions, do your research before you start to get a CDL. Most, if not all OTR carriers post their minimum hiring requirements on their website.

 

check with YOUR STATE and see when things "fall off" the record. if it's 3 years, you're ok, if it's 5 years, you're ok....if you paid that ticket (and God I hope you did) then it may have never been reported to YOUR HOME STATE.

now if you haven't paid that ticket...?? then you might have been driving on a suspended license all this time..!!!

the tickets "fall off" a portion of your record that employers get a copy of, but EVERYTHING you get STAYS ON your permanent record, so FROM THIS DAY ON....DRIVE LIKE AN ANGEL.......

It's paid, that's no problem.

I got the ticket in Ohio as a Michigan licensed driver. So I guess the question I should have asked in the first place: if you get a ticket in a state (Ohio) while being a licensed driver in another state (Michigan), does the violation show up on your home state record.

I think I answered my own question though. I went to Ohio's DMV website to request a driving record and pulling the record requires an Ohio driver's license number. So, it's impossible for me to have an Ohio driving record since I don't have an Ohio driver's license.

 

I got my report today and the Ohio violation is on there. It was actually an 83 in a 65 but was 6 years ago, so hopefully this won't hurt me too bad...

I also have an accident on there from when someone hit me when I was legally parked on the side of a residential street. If you have an accident but it wasn't your fault, is that taken into consideration?

 

83 in a 65? That's just a tad bit more than 5 over, at least when I do the math!

But I also misremembered how long ago it was, which is almost 6 years so maybe it won't even matter.

I'm mostly concerned about the accident.

 

So if nothing is on the MVR then you dont have to tell them about it??? Is that what I am reading here???
