I'm not worried about the physical, was just wondering if it would help to get it beforehand. Seems like it won't.

Thanks for all the info :)

    Good...

    Ok...

    What, no rotten eggs? :)

    ok, will study that then.

I don't think I do for the permit but I will check on it.

Dr.. A.? Not Dr. J.? :) (Thinking Men in Black here :) )

Good... My wife is willing to bring me down, but she doesn't navigate well and I'm afraid of her getting lost coming back.

If I go ahead and drive, at least I have a vehicle to come home in (not that I'm planning on that, hear? :) )

Thank for the info... it's appreciated. Hopefully I will be there by the first week of Aug (maybe the last week of July but...).

Just spoke with Gracie, my recruiter, and everything looks good so far. Waiting on responses from former employers, which shouldn't be a problem. I could be in Springmo on 26 July or 2Aug. Does anyone know if I need to bring a copy of my DD-214? I lost my original in a fire last year and haven't taken the time to order a replacement. I am scheduled for a DOT physical on Monday in order to test to get my Louisiana CDL permit. Then it's on to the DMV to test. Does anyone know which sections(s) of the Louisiana CDL manual to study in order to pass the La. CDL permit test? The website is very vague and it doesn't state in the manual what is covered for the permit test. I tried calling the DMV but apparently it takes an Act of Congress signed by the President to get someone with a pulse on the line.

Not sure about your state, but the MO permit test actually consisted of 3 tests: general knowledge, air brakes, and combination. Had to pass all three to get the permit. I would at least study those three sections.

Thx IP. It is a 7 hour drive by car from where I live, approximately 14.5 hour bus ride and a 3 hour flight (including a layover in Dallas). I'd rather be in a driving a truck than riding a dog.

I've been cruising this site for about 2 months, have read many of your post and am immensely grateful!! I'm obviously very green when it comes to the trucking industry but have learned a lot from you and many others.
