Water weighs 8 lbs per gallon and fuel floats on it.
These calculations would put a 5 gallon can of fuel at around 100 lbs.

The density of No. 2 diesel fuel is 850 grams/liter = 1.874 pounds/liter = 7.15 pounds per US gallon.

Actually I didn't need to use a calculator...just used my brain...obviously only half my brain since it would be 21.7 gallons....you could be right, new batteries for the calculator! LOL
I thought about referencing the fact that all fuel weight is not on the steers, but the driver needs to know what percentage of fuel weight from the tanks applies to drives and what percentage applies to steers. Easy to do:
1. Weigh tractor (bobtail) with less than half tank.
2. Put on 100 gallons.
3. Re-weigh tractor.
4. Compare 1st weight to 2nd weight.
Using the 100 gallons as your reference...(100%)...figure how much went to steers and how much went to drives. Remember 100 gallons of fuel is approximately 715 pounds. If the steers increased by 286 lbs...that tells you steers get 40% of weight in the tanks, so drives will get 60% or 429 lbs. 286 + 429 = 715 -
I use really heavy fuel....got it from Chernobyl!

FIRST... let me say I run opendeck (flatbed, stepdeck (with spread tandems) and RGN) .
I've positioned my 5th wheel right between my drives and I've been able to haul up to 48k with full tanks. -
I drive a 2008 Prostar (company truck so not my choice) and in pulling a dry box....generally (depending on the weight of the trailer)....if they load it just right I can get 45,640 of freight.
With the Prostar, I am taking 67% of fuel weight on the steers....they have positioned them forward from the KW or Freightliner I used to drive. -
I triple 7 I bet you have a long nose pit or something with a really long tractor.
Those prostars are really light we have them to and the can pull nearly 47500 without being over 80k -
You must be talking about a day cab Prostar....these condos are heavier than my W900L and my Century.

Actually, it's a 2006 Freightliner Columbia midroof with a RigMaster APU. Twin 120's for fuel and a steel frame/ alum. deck trailer.

I had a Cummins-powered Volvo 680, w/13 spd. Darn bobtail, with 225 gal of fuel, weighed 20,080 on the scale, brand new, without any clutter or tools, and I was not in the truck or standing on the scale.
