Exactly what is this? Is it like a potty that kids use with some chemicals that kill smell? Are there stores online or otherwise where I could get one? I tried to do a search online but I don't really know what it is you mean.

    Thanks :pottytrain2:

You can buy these in several t/s & camping supply places. I think mine came from a T/A.

Mine is a standard commode looking plastic box affair.
There's a lid & seat just like home.
It has a detachable bottom tank that holds the waste.
The upper part holds the fresh water & chemical mix.

A manual control opens the bowl into the waste trap.

A manual hand or foot pump shoots the water/chemical mix into the upper bowl area & it drains down into the waste trap.

The chemical (usually blue) decomposes the paper & waste in a short time. You can buy special paper meant for quick decomposition like for a septic tank system.

To empty, lock the trap closed, detach the bottom tank (on a hinge) walk it to the RV waste dump or to a nearby toilet. Dump as needed. The carry part appears breifcase shaped with a handle.

No spills, no muss, no fuss.

It helps if you have a hose to wash the insides out with but not mandatory. It can wait till you get home.

    At the time, I think I used T/A points;aprox $80 worth.

Look around at Wally World or a favorite camping supply or motor home place.

    Truckstops of America.
    A brand of nationwide truckstops.
Big blue & white T/A signs on the hiway.
    Can't miss 'em.

Lol...I thought it was Travel America as we have one here in Town...however its Travelcenters of America.

With those toilets...do truckstops have water hoses or some way to fill them back up? Id think a RV Dump doesnt have a water supply...and they can be hard to find too.

    Heres a link to one:

    I stand corrected. Thank you.

I guess it's been too long since I even had to know what TA stood for...other than bad food.:biggrin_2552:

Lol....is there any truck stop out there with Good food? We have a TA and Flying J here in our town and to me...its the same....food out of a bag. It would be better if it at least TASTED like something made from scratch.

    1. How do you handle the bathroom issue?
    2. Are showers at truck stops gross?
    3. What is a truck stop like?

    1. the only real problem is in the middle of the night if you have to go or not. thats a descion you gotta make. personally i walk inside to use the restroom.

    2. some are cleaner than others. you can usuallyy tell by the way it looks from the outside. from my experience pilots seem to have the cleanestt of all.

    3. dirty, filthy and nasty most of the time because honestly there are just some nasty drivers out there. oh and very expensive to buy things from too. try to hit wally world at least once a week to buy supplies and that will save you alot of money in the long run.

get a truckstop book and it will have all the small truckstops as well as the big ones. i have found some pretty good places to eat this way and most of them are mom/pop shops. it will still be a hit and miss though.
