You need the big miles with the peanuts they pay. .32 is 1999 wages.
-
Peanuts!! They pay in peanuts? I love peanuts, I can't eat these dollar bills.

That pic is old....I lease now. But either way, pay high lower miles, or pay smaller with bigger miles. All equals out for me. Wether I was company or lease. Best company I have drove for. Average 3k per week at minimum.

I wish they were pistachios

Yeah, I drove for Shaffer back in 2009 and at that time I made .43 cents a mile. I was also averaging around 2,000 - 2,200 miles a week. So let's see, 2,000 miles times .43, I would be lucky to see a $700 pay check (take home). 3,000 + miles per week at .32 per mile... I have seen several $1,000+ paychecks (after taxes).
-
You are a victim of wishful math.
2200 X .43 = $946
3000 X .32 = $960
So basically at .32 you are driving 800 miles a week for free. It amazes me how many drivers fall for the "we got miles" scam. I don't want miles, I want dollars.
Also, I drove for Shaffer for 3 1/2 years. I was making .46 when I left. And while it is a #### company for other reasons. 2200 miles weeks were rare. I was almost always over 2500.
Work smarter, not harder.48Packard, Guitar Man, 1nonly and 3 others Thank this. -
Smart person posted that. I drive about 700 miles less at my current job compared to my last one but average $200 more per week in take home. Works for me. I started with Sunflower in 2000 and loved them but when they merged them into Shaffer the miles dropped quite a bit so I left in 2004.48Packard Thanks this.

In order to take home (net) $1000 at .32 cpm, let's see....you'd have to have 3125 PAID miles to hit a grand GROSS...assuming a conservative 20% for taxes, you would need to gross somewhere around 1250 bucks, or north of 3900 miles per week.
Now, granted...that is just mileage. It does not count accessorials such as loading/unloading, layover, extra stops.
But it still doesn't ring true.
I'll stick with .40 and 2400 to 3000 miles per week... -
I prefer cashews!
My hubby drove for Celadon a while back. Hope your miles don't disappear like his did. Idiot dispatchers, idiot load planners . . . he's got a much better gig now.chipper9 Thanks this.
