I am still alive, more or less. Been running hard. Had a friend riding with me for a couple weeks, i was nice to have some companionship. Right now I'm sitting at Pilot in Birmingham, I dpon't deliver till 1500 in New Albany, MS till 1500 only 155 miles away, it's a walmart DC so no need to get there more than a hour early.

Still running hard, my last paycheck was for 3800 miles, and I broke down but didn't lose any trips or miles

Agreed, the Prostar windows are not meant to ventilate, I had a W-9 and they were high, people couldn't see in, provided light and ventilation where the heat collects - high in the top of the truck.

glad to hear you are one step closer to getting back in the seat. Best of luck to you.

I get decent ventilation by using 2 fans. I use the ones with the clamps. I open the center cabinet over the windows on the passenger side and clip to the back of the door. Point the fan at an angle over the window, with the curtain mostly off, but connected on the right side. This way it catches the air from the fan behind it and it goes out the window.
Then I point the other fan at me. Hanging that one off the one cabinet I have on the drivers side.
Works ok. better than in a truck with just vents. And I keep the curtains closed. So engine heat will not build in the back when I first park.

I had my wife quilt me some new covers for the prostar windows. They are two inches shorter than the standard covers and let the air in and keep the prying eyes out.. I got the breezeway screens for the front windows. I get great airflow in the truck and for the hotter nights I do the fan thing that chrome does. I keep cool and keep my idle % below 8%...

Ditto on the fan. One has to be smarter than the truck and the fan is a smart way to go than rely on mother nature to provide wind velocity no matter where the windows are.

Need some advice from you veteran Central drivers. My training with my trainer is not going well at all. We were supposed to leave originally Thursday around Midnight but that got pushed back to Friday at 3pm. I got to the terminal at 2pm and the trainer showed up around 2:30. His truck was still in the shop and was going to take a little more time to get fixed. So we went out to eat while we were eating he was telling me about how he is going through a divorce right now and about all the stuff he needs to get down soon to finalize it. So we would probably go out for a week and take 2 days off then go out again so he can get his personal stuff done.

We get back to the shop and still have to wait for the truck. At 11:30 it is finally done and we load up and head out. We get about 100 miles away and loose oil pressure. So he turns around and heads back to the terminal. I checked into the hotel that night at 2:30am and wait for his call the next morning. He calls me around 8:00am and says that the truck should be done in about 5 hrs and we can head out then. He would call me and let me know what time. I wait and hear nothing so I called him at 2:00pm. He said it will probably take them a while to get the truck done and he need to get somethings done so he went home. We will now not go out until Monday around 3:00pm and he will call me. So I went home for the weekend and have been sitting here waiting for a call.

My concern is that this guy is going through some personal issues and really dosen't want to go out right now or can't. That is fine I can understand that but if that is true then he shouldn't have taken on a trainie. I am not one that likes to rock the boat and usually just goes with the flow but I am getting no where sitting at home waiting on him. So if I don't hear from him today should I call and ask for a different trainer? If so who should I call first to work it out with? His DM or the saftey director at the terminal? My main concern is that he just can't or doesn't want to work right now which is fine but I do and need to.

I'm guessing you're in Fontana, Right? If so, I'd go see Dave in Training and talk to him about your concerns.

    Lady K Thanks this.
