lol, Phil don't give 2 squirts about idle laws. If the apu isn't working the truck doesn't get turned off. He says he cannot be well rested if he can't sleep and he can't sleep if it's hot in the cab and the tree huggers can suck it....oh and we are still waiting for a load lol

Most jurisdictions with idle restrictions make allowances for loading and unloading if running the engine is necessary to operate the equipment. For example, on a pneumatic tank trailer, the engine MUST run in order to turn the PTO, which drives the blower, which provides the air to unload the product. If you need to run the engine to power the lift gate, there's not much they can do about you idling the truck while unloading.

well, finally got a load......to laredo, where the load we t-called here in Irving was going. And they don't open until 9am monday. So we are sitting here till 8pm so phil can get his layover pay then heading to laredo. If it's normal to have 3 days a week with no loads from dispatch I'm bringing my playstation 3 with me on my truck. This is BS. I'm really hoping to average 3k miles a week but that's going to be hard with dispatching like this.

The area you are going to os like a black hole sometimes. You get sucked in and it's hard to get out. I always dreaded Laredo cause it would take a few days to get out. The only thing that saved me there was that I have family there and that helped take my time up. Good luck and the game set would not be a bad idea.

Laredo is where you can go to enjoy all the delights of Mexico without a passport!

GraveD, I really enjoy your posts man! Takes me back and makes me really miss driving. You sound as if you are going to make a fine OTR driver. You seem to have some patience and a good head about you. Two very important things. Yes night dispatch is worthless and it is like that no matter what company you are working for. As for the accidents you are going to get your fill and then some. It is however an excellent reminder to yourself to never let your guard down and to constantly practice safe driving. When my wife and I were over the road every shift change we went over the safety rules. Never swerve to avoid anything, slow down pay attention etc...

Anyway keep up the good posts and the good work man!

Yeah, least in Laredo theres a boobie bar lol. In Irving there's nothing. Thank god for skype and my girlfriend lol. Can't wait till I can bring her with me, oddly enough she isn't annoying to be around. And she patiently listens to all my new trucker talk. The other day I told her I had to make an emergency stop at a rest area to drop a load, she asked if I had to log it as my first dropoff point....I love that woman lol.

    Driver,

If you want to average 3K miles a week,

another company may be in your not to far off future !!

And remember, this is basically peak freight season, 6 months from now will be just

    the opposite !!

    Good Luck !!!
