I just quit on 7/12/11 that place was a complete joke. I learned the first 2 days of orentation everybody wanted to be in charge but nobody knew what the other was doing. After orentation sitting and waiting for 2 days to get assigned a truck was great. Then they tell you the truck is not in Nashville you have to go get it. Then you get to the terminal where they told you to go get the truck and they tell you we have not recoverd that truck yet. I guess the best was Steve Binkleys little speech on Saftey and how we at Western express do every thing saftley or we don't do it at all. Well let me tell you when I pick up a trailer at a walmart dc and it hacs 3 bad tires on it because some stupid Jerome dosent want to report it. Then I am sent to a tire shop after sending Break down photos of the tires and they say i only need 1. Yet even the tire shop agrees i need 3 but they can only change 1 then i leave head 100 miles south only to blow out one tire. They send me to get another one changed. Then upon getting into fl i get a dot inspection and get slaped for the 3rd tire . Thats doing it safe . Plus the fact on the morning of july 11 they had me drive a trailer from naples fl to the Pilot in Ft.myers with barley any rrailer breaks to get new breaks only to sit for 5 hours while they decided if they were going to have them done there or in Tampa. Guess what the truck is still sitting at the Pilot im at home in my living roog typing this #### you Western Express

That is what you call "planning ahead"............for unemployment!

No...but I would never abandon a truck at a truck stop. You just "screwed the pooch" as the old saying goes.

Did it occur to you (hind sight is 20-20 I know)....to get the brakes fixed, or even did you try to adjust them yourself? Just because they say they are "self adjusting" I wouldn't believe it!

I tried to get them fixed i was siting in a shop that the break down tech sent me to from the over night shift. after there was no call back to the shop after 2 hours i called break down agian which was now the day shift . They had no idea i was at the shop then they proceded to tell me the brakes on that trailer were fine. Im the one that crawled under the trailer and had to back completly off the rear axle because it was metal on metal and the front axel was not much better. So please tell me agian would you have driven that?

Understand that you met some dumb issues... but abandoning the truck was not good for your future, especially with major carrier where a solid DAC entry is guaranteed. I would seriously get a local driving job and stay with it.. like.. forever.

You would have been better to sit there and force them to fix it or fire you

No you don't. But you decline to pull it or drive it because it's unsafe, not abandon the equipment & quit.
