Well I am CRE trained and certified as an PH2 instructor. I searched and reviewed many trucking companies before deciding to go to the CR England school in Texas. The cost was $1,999.00 if you paid cash, which is what I did. You were also guatanteed a job if you passed your PH1 training course after recieving your CDL. After 2 weeks of school in Texas I got my CDL. I then went to Salt Lake City, Utah. After getting solo qualified by passing a 30 day Phase 1 training, I was hired. I then went on and passed my 60 day Phase 2 training. This allowed me to take a 6 hour class and actually become a Phase 2 trainer myself. Imagine that! I had exactly 90 days of OTR experience on a team truck, and I was now a trainer! Today is 7-12-11. Last weekend CRE had 4 rollovers! FOUR ROLLOVERS IN ONE WEEKEND!!!! This says something about the quality of their training program. In short they are a student mill. They recieve $10,000.00 from the government for everyone that passes the Phase 1 training. Add the cost the student pays ($2,999.00 if you don't pay cash up front) and that's about 13 GRAND for everyone they put on the road. Think twice before you embrace CRE. Not enough space here for the real dirt, but I could write a book about my 2 years there. HORRIBLE!!!!!! I now work for a friend of mine that has his own authority and I haul PRIME trailers for 76% of the line haul. And I run solo in my own tractor. I paid my dues with CR England. There are MANY better choices in a trucking company. Do your homework before deciding on a carrier. After CRE, I worked for 6 months for Knight Transportation, before going to my friends company. Knight was EXCELLENT! I would recommend them, as well as Central Referigeration. Life is good now, however I still have nightmares about CRE!

Unfortunately a new trainer was killed in one of the 4 rollovers CRE had last weekend. It would be nice if England cared enough about their drivers to have a memorial at their terminals honoring fallen drivers.
AMATEUR Thanks this. -
90 days and you can train a new driver? wtf are these companies preaching!
danny_379, Brickman and Rollover the Original Thank this. -
The Memorial come's over the Qualcomm. They just dont say how. One of my Roomies was Killed on I80 near Rawlins,wy this Past Winter. All Salt Lake said over the QC was that he Passed. His Wife Called Me and told me he was in an Accident only because my Number was on His Phone.I remember making a Comment to another Student while we were Training, that "He cant Drive a Truck to Save His own Life". If i could take one that back i would but it was True,He could not Drive a Truck and England still Issued Him a CDL and put him on the Road.

CRE had another rollover last night. That makes 5 in the last couple of days. I wonder if the DOT is going to step in soon?
-
Well, I was just going to update this about the latest rollover last night. Look at what I found on a Federal website regarding Englands CSA 2010 score.
Carrier Name: CR England Inc.
US DOT # 28406
MC # 124679
ISS Inspection value: 92%
ISS Recommendation: Inspect
Basis for recommendatioin: Safety
0 is the best, 100 is the worst. This means that there is a 92% chance inspectors will find a violation during an inspection. Comforting thought.Rollover the Original and zentrucking Thank this. -

And there are way too many of us on here that still have nightmares about Knight! I'm not trying to start anything here, just passing on information. Speaking of information, I'd be interested in knowing what made you leave Knight if they were so good.
Again, I want to stress that I'm not trying to start anything here. We have seen a few posts from Knight drivers that seem happy with the company. It really does appear to make a difference which terminal is your home terminal and who your dispatcher is.
There will always be people who are unhappy with a particular company, just as there will always be people who are happy with the same company. Different things work for different people. But where ever a person is planning on going to work, it only makes sense to research the company first.
Glad that you got clear of England and are doing OK now. -
