Offer after Pre-Hire

It depends on the customer. Lowes and Walmart are usually drop/hook and will usually take the load whenever you can get it there. Many customers only receive from about 7:00 till 15:00. So it's not always Roehl's fault. You can get there, but it won't be till 16:30, so at late evening you are shutting down till morning. Roehl has two customers that are a royal pain in the you know what. Home Depot counts being early the same as being late. Staples charges a $500 penalty if you are early or late.

I have been told that part of the problem is that Roehl is freaky scared of having a service failure, that may be another part of the problem with too much time. I do notice that for over a year we have been doing a lot fewer drop/hook loads. Shippers schedule loads days and weeks in advance, so why are we told everything is last minute? Just take a look at any load board and you can see how far out shippers are making loads available.

 

Why we are told everything is last minute? Because that puts the driver under the gun. They never seem to shoot straight. Always this or that or whatever.
my last two loads seem to be last minute. The pick up window was open 3 days ago and they got me grabbing the day before it delivers. Then with my hours ending from getting to delivery I end up late. Haven't got a service failure, but I'm rushing and stressing over a load that has a window on the delivery, but no one will ever tell me the real time it needs to be there by.

 

That is one of the things nice about being an o/o. I ask about pickup and delivery windows before I ever accept the load. I'm not afraid to turn down a bad load with "too much time, not enough miles."

 

Roehl drivers are like mushrooms. They are kept in the dark and fed crap.

 

ha ha good one Bucks and Ducks , Here is one of my favorites and it applys to team Roehl, diong a good job at roehl is like peeing in a wet suit, it gives you a nice warm feeling all over but no one notices !

 

All this and more and Rick Roehl is wondering why his drivers can't keep the trucks right side up.

 

Today I ended up about 4 hours from home. Was suppose to be home Tuesday but agreed to take a hot load to Florida. Anyway, I only had 3.25 hrs left of drive time so no going home today. This after I d/h a Lowes load at 830 only to assigned my next load picking up 60 miles away tomorrow at noon. So I sit for over 24 hours and I'm only 4 hours from home. A bit frustrating.

 

I know the feeling, I can handle four hours better than 30 minutes. I one time had them refuse to let me go home for the night because it was 20 miles out of route.

 

You have to take the good with the bad as there is bad at every carrier. Heck, there is bad with any job.

I'm frustrated with my current situation of going home, but it was my choice to stay out past the date to make more money. Also, the layover time for the next load taking me home is not the norm.
