When you get hometime, do you drive your truck home? Or go somewhere first, get your car, and then drive your car home?
Thanks!

Yes and yes! It all depends on the driver and where he/she lives. Does he/she have room at home or what the company says goes?
Some have to take the truck to the terminal and drive their car home. Usually the company will service the truck at that time.
Then you have ones that live in the country and can drive to their house. Many will drop the trailer nearby at a truck stop or secure location and bobtail home.
Some live in apts or in a development with a HOA that forbids trucks and they have to find a nearby location. It's a challenge for some to find a safe, secure spot. Truck parking is very limited. -
In a perfect world, you would have your car at the terminal which is with-in 25 miles of your house. You would drop your truck at the yard and drive home and return 3 days later. Your truck would be serviced, washed and ready to go. Oh, one thing, it's not a perfect world out there, right ?

I live between my dedicate account and and the company terminal so if I'm home for 34hrs or less I drive my truck home if I'm home for more than 34 I take my truck to the terminal drop it and drive my pick up home.

here in canada 99% of the time only O.O's bring their trucks home, and only if their neighbors dont complain, unless its fenced in with lights and a locked gate its usually against local bylaw to park it on private property. Most companies only like to see their trucks in secure locations. i honestly cant remember when ive seen a company rig in someones driveway.

When I first started driving, I was renting a house. I'd park the truck & trailer about a mile up the road and walk home. Then, the truck was broken into and some personal items stolen...so I started dropping the trailer and bobtailing home to park in the driveway. The landlord even hauled in some rock for me to spread where I needed it.
Then I bought a house. Not being able to park the truck at the house was a deal-breaker...I HAD to have room. Ever since I moved to where I'm at now, I've just parked the entire truck & trailer right next to the garage. If anyone has a problem with it, they can turn their head in another direction. They aren't paying my mortgage. They aren't paying my property taxes. They don't get any say in what I park on my property or where on my property it parks. -
When I was an owner op. I parked a mile away and walked home. Neighbors thought I was crazy and shouldn't be walking that far. lol
I park my company truck at the terminal and drive my personal vehicle home these days. -
Im a local driver home every night. I live next door to my dad and ride to work with him as he is my dispatcher. I own my truck and leave it at the yard unless I plan to wash it over the weekend then I bring it home. On those days I will try and pick my little girl up from daycare. Shes young enough to still think thats cool.
Pretty sweet gig. Its a 60mile round trip if I did have to drive something. -
I live 6 miles from a secure drop yard. I bring it home only when I need to do something to it, otherwise, ill call the wife to come pick me up.
